You know what... here goes.: Gearstick is 12mm in size. But since we have a lift-reverse... you can only go down 20mm (depth) with the knob, before the lift-reverse comes up 15mm with a 25mm surrounding. (25mm for the plastic bit that holds the reverse lift-up) So you have to square it off...

Guessing the idle sensor is faulty... due to oil & gunk in the TB. Coming mainly from the crankcase breather... give it a good cleaning. Should work wonders. Or do a search to see others with similair problems.
