Renault going all electric from 2025

To bring this slightly back on track Alpines put together an electric versions of the A110. They’ve managed to reduce the drivetrain weight from 400kg to 260kg, 4.5s to 60 and a 260 mile range. Naturally you won’t actually be able to buy one of these as in true Renault fashion it’s only a...

Renault going all electric from 2025

That stuff will still be around for niche stuff like racing and classic cars etc. Harry’s Garage did a bit on it not so long ago worked out to be about £3 a litre. Not enough land to mass produce on the scale required to take over from crude.

Renault going all electric from 2025

True the initial development costs are massive. I’m not sure what we spent but it was millions before the company decided it was unfeasible without billions of government subsidy and stopped it.

Renault going all electric from 2025

I assume you mean hydrogen, ethanol is biofuel like veg oil etc? If you mean hydrogen it’s difficult to make, distribute and ultimately less efficient than using electric. It will likely be used for traditional diesel usage like ships & heavy plant vs passenger cars.

Renault going all electric from 2025

Too put it simply yes, evs are going to be far greener and efficient than burning fuel can ever be, even if they are supplied by fossil fuel power stations. It saves on emissions because it consolidates them to a single focal point where carbon capture technology can be used. The main issue for...

Renault going all electric from 2025

Majority of Teslas are good for 200k and only lose 10% capacity by that point. If anything evs are already more reliable than ice cars, Not many do 200k without some form of engine work/maintenance.

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

Issue is those cable/networks aren’t up to spec so would need replacing so we’d end up with another open reach situation. A lot more difficult and costly to do vs focusing your infrastructure in specific spots.

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

Far simpler to put all the r&d into making electric cars do 4-500 miles a charge and charge up in 10 mins at a “charge station”. Rather spending a loads of money on fixed infrastructure that will be outdated in 10 years time.

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

Not really sure you can call it a city car when it’s likely the similar size as the current Megane. More comparable platforms from vw dub already have a range of 330 right now. so it’s not really good enough from Renault if they expect to compete in the ev world. Then again this is a Renault...

Not sure what Renault are thinking with that the specs are terrible. Only get a 40kwh battery with the entry level or a 60kwh with the top spec. Even the MG evs come with a 70kwh pack now.

Well credit to Milwaukee, my stubby packed in a few weeks ago still within warranty by about a month. But I don’t take particularly good care of my tools and it looked a bit of a mess so wasn’t expecting them to repair it. They've only gone and replaced it with a brand new one.
