Well when a emptied the oil yesterday there was an extra litre of oil in the engine and it was goign everywhere so me mate (the mechanic) reckons that when the oil was hittin the exhaust pipe it was igniting and thats what was smoking, he reckons i was lucky for the engine not to go bang. The...

use the gromit that veinast has used, thats the easiest way. if u push the grommit from inside the car it should pop out and by looking down in the engine bay ull see it. Job done.

it is expensive, i got some done a few years back an i remember it being expensive but not sure exactly how much. colour was spot on. Iv just resprayed my alloys and used nearly 4 cans. 1 can for a pair and then one and a half for touching up bits and making sure iv got everywhere.

sorted it now, cheers all. got some heavy duty velcro from local diy shop, cost me £7 but its mint stuff and its really strong. plates come off with a good pull and the velcro has stuck really well to the plates.
