In fact, to be blunt, for £12k you're only a little bit shy of a Maserati GT 4.7 S as a company car!
Rubbish argument and he needs his head examining IMO. The ONLY reason now to get allowance over car is if you've got a s**t list, or want something sporty and only have one car. Even then it's...
Is it? Group 20 gets you an Exige S. Or an M3. Given that it's 14 groups from a Cinquecento to an ever-so-manly Clio, 5 groups to an M3 means hot hatches aren't such a cheap way of having fun!
But what about that 12k that he has at the beginning? If he just got a company car, he'd have to spend nearly £350 a month on a company car to use that over 3 years. Which is two very, very highly specced 2.7TDI Audi A6's. At the end of my 3 years, I'll have had a Golf maintained and insured...
Car allowance usually restricts you to a car less than 3 years old, and almost certainly won't stretch to a car that's 5 years old now. Plus, every time you do any travelling for work, you'll be paying 22p per mile on fuel alone, whilst claiming 11p back. Losing 11p every mile, before taking...
Bye-bye 172. It's a nice car, but not worth the cost of keeping compared to getting a virtually free new car.
My new Golf with all the bells and whistles is going to cost me £60 a month. If any man on here can find me a car I can buy, maintain, insure and tax for that, I'll eat a sheet of A4...
Yes, and the panel is bonded on. I've not argued otherwise anywhere have I?
The only difference here is they sawed the panel open on the Vee, whereas they just didn't put it on on the 197 and welded a different panel in.
Woooo, so much more 'bespoke'.
Nah, kurbing will lead to the lacquer peeling as the water gets in under this.
Refurbing is fine, and I'd say their offer was generous. I know people that'd tell you to f**k off.
Apple TV. The big one.
iPhone 3GS. 32GB. White, because Steve Jobs loves me.
iPod 60GB. For most of my tunes in my car, although not used it lately. Vee's got a changer, Golf has a hard disk. BMW is confused by anything more modern than an 8-track.
2 iPod Nanos. The short fat ones.
I think, bar the doors, they did cut the majority of it out. Whether they did a good job of cutting it (obviously this has to be gally's definition of good) isn't a part of the debate - the fact is they did exactly the same. Take old panel out, stick new panel on. And so the door is...
Ok, so what do you think lies under your 197's rear arch? The chassis and inner arches of a 1.2, with different struts.
Where would you like this to go, because you're failing miserably at defining the 197 as a 'bespoke' chassis?
Bespoke shell?! What?!
You can MAKE a normal 1.2 into a 197. To complete the styling, you have to cut off and put in a 197 quarter. It's not the first time someone has done that, and it won't be the last.
f**k me, next thing some soft t**t with a Fiesta Zetec S Mk5 will declare the shell...
Yeah, and you're going to tell me that Renault did anything other than just weld a different quarter panel on rather than cutting off the 1.2 one that would have been welded on if Mrs. Smith wanted a 1.2 instead of a 197? It's not like it's rocket science!
Fools. It's a nice car. That's it...
What the f**k!? Same door skins?
You mean these?
Don't make me laugh. And the 197's shell is the same with a new 3/4 panel. Don't get yourself so excited!
Aye, what he said. Windows XP Mode is f**king ace. Enables me to run Windows XP/Office 2003 to recreate any issues users experience without having to put up with that s**t on a daily basis.
Sorry, feel free to dismantle one to check but last time I looked there wasn't anything on a standard Clio shell that is far enough out to mount the skirts? And the panel underneath isn't recognisable as a Clio panel (you couldn't peel it off and say, 'look, a clio')...
So I stand by the...
