Im not too phased about trading it in and losing a bit of £££
I mean it was significantly cheaper than buying from Renault and if you stick with buying imports then the next car would be cheaper anyway! :D
I wouldnt of thought it would be worth going to the effort of tracking down a car just so you can steal the ICE or something.
Im sure most car theives are opportunists or people who keep an eye out locally. To be honest its as much risk putting your plate on here as driving it round anyway...
My insurers never asked about it so Ive never told them.
To be honest I wasnt buying it as an import I was simply buying from a car supermarket. The only way I knew it was brought over from Belgium is coz Im nosey and asked the salesman how they sell them so much cheaper.
I know it is...
Apart from the blue they came in I never really new the difference. Mine didnt have colour coded bumpers so it might not be the kind of model you are after.
I just wondered that was all.
Im not disputing anyone but I would be surprised if the place I bought it from actually have the ability to install an alarm. The reason I say this is that they are simply a car supermarket and dont have mechanics onsite. Thats partly how they keep their costs down.
I would declare it if I sold it and to be honest its not a problem considering the ammount saved by buying it.
Would an aftermarket alarm be fitted using the standard keyfob?
Would Renault check a non standard alarm when they service the Car?
I would of thought that the import centre...
I actually bought it directly from the import centre and according to them it is a standard alarm. They import and sell the cars apparently.
Renault even checked the alarm when I had it serviced so Im assuming its standard.
Mine came from Belgium with no plates registered to it. They got put on when I said I was gonna buy the car and put down my deposit.
Its got the full spec, alarm, etched windows etc. I made sure it was all proper when I was buying it. Also Renault have not argued about covering it under...
I bought my car from a place called Jefferies Farm Trade Centre in Crawley.
Got my 53 plate Clio 172 for £12.5k brand new. It was imported but was registered as a British car and is completely British spec.
Does this mean it devalues the car so if I sold it, it would be below the average...
My 172 had a about 2 miles on the clock but heard normal delivery miles can be a little more.
Spoke to a guy at Renault who said about the V6s being tricky to get on the transporters coz of their width and how low they are. If that is true I supppose you might expect a few more miles...
Has anyone else noticed a click from the steering column when they either have the down or are biting the clutch, ie parking.
I had Renault look at this and they replaced the software depot but it still does it. Before they repaired it I could actually feel the click in the clutch pedal...
I would of thought that the R5GTT was less reliable coz it forces more power out of a small engine.
I would of thought over time the R5s engine would give out before a valver.
Its ok getting a lease coz it does cut the monthly cost right down but that money is just being given away as you dont come out with the car at the end.
I pay a total of £340 (with insurance) per month and if my car is worth £5k at the end of the 3 years then Ive got that to put down on the...
Liking the plate! What is the legal way of spacing the letters on that one coz its got a lot of letters?
I got - X666 ALX (Its Satans Clio lol)
Halfords would only space it exactly like that, I wanted it as X 666 ALX but they wouldnt have it!!
Some old guy did my mums Clio coz she blocked him in, in a nursing home car park. She blocked him in again the next day (which everyone there does) and he did it again.
I was gonna knock seven shades out of him but instead I took a screw driver to his and he stopped. He had even keyed the...
My 172 always makes that tinkling/ticking noise most times I drive it even when I was running the engine in.
I tend to avoid driving hard all the time but I find it does this most times I park up. :D
I borrowed £10k for my 172 as I put down £2.5k (got it new as an import for £12.5k).
I wasnt keen to take out a bank loan coz at least a car loan means the cars the liability, not me. ;)
Paying £275 per month for 3 years.
Reading stuff like this p!sses me right off!! :@
Im 100% sure its coz they are jealous coz we drive funky cars and theyd rather invest in Argos jewellery. Doesnt make ya feel any better though.
I dont know how much to simply re-program the key.
When mine broke it was the actual button that physically stopped pressing properly so had to be replaced.
Sorry mate, not much help.
Well well well!! I had a bit of a result.
I spoke to a really helpful pleasant lady called Amba and she apologised profusely for the inconvenience. And....wait for it......
She offered me a refund for my service so thats £205 back in my pocket!!! I dont mind having to bring the car back for...
Well my lovely mum did the honours and kicked off at the service manager at the garage. (Cant really rant and rave about it whilst Im at work!!?)
Apparently they are gonna try their upmost to no incovenience me. Bit late for that now really isnt it! MUPPETS :(
They damaged it getting the seat runner replaced!!!
All in they scratched the steering wheel, kick panel, door handle and seat belt holster bit. The part Im waiting for is the interior door handle, wouldnt of thought it was that hard to get.
Ive been waiting over 2 weeks now.
I had to have a new key on my last car and from what I recall it was supposed to be about £90.
I moaned as it was under warranty, the then guy asked me how many miles the car had done!! haha I was surprised as I didnt think the number of miles the car did affected the spare key that had...
Well I spoke to some rude bint at Renault and suggested taking the door trim from another car.
She told me that as I had the 172 it has a different part. I tod her I was aware the 182 has the same handle. She called me back and told me that they didnt have any as they get sold quickly.
She...
Im just waiting for the service supervisor to call be back so I can suggest that to her!!! Lets see if she does eh?!?!
I really dont see why I should wait 10 more days and be incovenienced all over again. They should be the ones putting themselves out not me.
Can you tell Im a little...
Since Renault damaged the interior of my 172 its taken them 2 weeks to get all the parts. Its been in since Saturday coz apparently one of the parts had arrived and was wrong.
NOW theyve just phoned to tell me that the part has arrived again, incorrectly and that they are going to have to...
Car: Phase 2 172
Year: Nov 2003
Miles: 8900
Mood : Love the car nice and quick, surprises people in bigger more expensive cars which always makes me laugh!! :D Just been dissappointed with the imcompetance of the Renault mechanics. :@
