benR-
the reason flow tails if u continue to increase lift is that beyond valve lift = diameter/4, the port becomes the restriction; not the valve. so when u plot CFM against l/d, it rises steadily then flattens off when l/d = 4.
how is increasing valve area better than increasing pure curtain area?? the whole point of increasing valve size (area) and valve lift, IS TO increase curtain area.
wot do u mean by "u can increase power by simply changing the area of peak VE and the tail off of a reasonable VE value"...
actually, cams (increasin lift) give an increase in power for the same reason that a larger valve diameter does----larger curtain area.
again duration and overlap achieve better flow through head
power is virtually determined by the cylinder head. if u put a willy head on a 1.8, in theory it...
when u say more reliable due to installation, wot do u actually mean??
damage only occurs (providing the engine is in good state of tune, and ridiculous ammounts of N2O arent added!!) when the system either isnt installed or designed properly, so detonation occurs due to incorrect A/F ratio...
for a valver in2 an RT u will need:
engine/box, loom, ECU, radiator/fan, fuel pump, driveshafts, brakes, struts(if u havnt modified urs already), and PAS rack.
try and find a smashed valer, i paid £300 for all the bits mentioned above when i done mine!!
£5 for a hand job, £15 for a BJ, £35 all in!!
BTW my timing adds up 2 25 min, so say half an hour.
"half hour maybe an hour if u take your time...." see wot im sayin???!!!
5mins 2 get it off, 5mins in parts washer, 10min cleaning/drying ready 4 re-assembly, 5 min 2 re-assemble.
in 3hrs the engine could be out and disassembled.
i wouldnt overtighten them tho, they can be prone to shearing. about 5N.m is about right
think is, even tyre pressure can affect results by 10bhp. not trying 2 burst ur bubble, just bein realistic
R/Rs should only be used to set-up cars as a means of simulating constant road conditions for the engine. i.e. its difficult 2 drive down the road and hold engine speed at a constant...
wot??!! any1 that has paid that has been ripped right off!
the set-up we just bought cost £1100 (ex VAT). included:
Emerald ECU, all sensors, multi plug, Jenvey T.Bs, linkages and trumpets
only thing we didnt get was injectors, but we r probably gonnaus Peco 1s off a 106 GTi.
