There have been a few photos of the sports model posted up mate and IMO it looks the dogs danglies. I'm not too keen on the standard Mk3 because, as you say, it looks far too much like a 206, but I think that the sports really does look good.
I'm hoping to go with Bell in december as they are the cheapest by a mile for me - only about £650 TPFT for my 1.4RT or £1000 for a valver TPFT and I'm just 18 with no NCD.
Would be even better with a discount :)
I take it you put in some mods? If you put it as lowered more than 50mm for example they will tell you to phone them, but if it's less than 50mm they don't. Try a quote without any mods to give you an idea as they don't charge all that much for mods and it will give you a good idea of what...
Have you tried bell insurance Joel? (www.bell.co.uk) Try putting in different details in terms of your date of birth so that you can see how much it will cost you once you have turned 19 (i'm not saying to lie about your DOB on your insurance though - just to see what the price will be in a...
I just can't see how you could get it not to hang down so much. I'm not questioning BenR in anyway (I know he's like a car god ;)) but I just can't see how it would be possible to get it to sit flush with the underside of the car.
Has anyone got any pics of how low/high theirs hangs?
It's really annoying isn't it mate. I was advised by a few people that if it's gone that quickly then I should get a new hub as the old is probably fucked - which is what has caused the bearings to go again. I have picked one up from the scrappies and it was only £15 so it's not too bad.
How much is that lowered by mate? I take it it's 55mm front but how much rear? Is there any scrubbing.
I'm just asking as that;s the sort of ride height I am after and I will be lowering mine next week hopefully.
Okay doky. I'll phone the garage who fitted them originally and see if I can get free fitting or something as a good will gesture LOL. Can't see it happening but I'll try my best.
I know if I put the hub from the scrappies on I will need to replace the bearing but I am just wondering if there is any chance that the old one might not have gone as the play in it if you hold the disc really is very, very small. Is there supposed to be any play at all (even if tiny) if you...
As some of you may know I have been having some problems with my hub bearings. I had the bearings replaced about 1500 miles ago and recently the noise retuned and there was again some play in the wheel.
Having checked out a few things to do with the bearing going again I was told tat I should...
I think it looks good mate. I think it's totally changed the look of the car without getting a totally ott bodykit - which is a good thing. I would agree that it would be better with other wheels. The lights totally change the image of the car IMO.
The interior looks really nice too. Like...
ah well, fcuk that. I'll stick with the one from the scrappies just now. It was only three pounds and although not great it isn't too bad. Do these tend to haveto be replaced after a while anyway or only if the gaitor splits? How can I tell if the oneI got from the scrappies is OK other than...
I am needing a new balljoint for my Mk1 clio. It's the balljoint that joins onto the bottom of the hub (not the track rod). I was replacing the hub and realised the gaitor was split so I got a new one from the scrappy but it's not in great condition. It will do for the meantime as it's not got...
LOL, don't worry that won't be happening (unless my fat cat jumps on it.) I was replacing the hub but when I took the old hub off I realised the the bottom balljoint gaitor was split so I went to the scrappies and got another one. The problem is that I can't get the old one off my car. One of...
I was just wandering - is it not a good idea to leave the car on axle stands for too long (at the front) - could it affect the chasis in anyway with the weight of the engine etc?
If this is the case how long is it OK to be left for?
Thanks.
^^^^^^
That will probably be a voluntary excess. You would also have to pay a standard exess of about £100 and with a lot of companies a youg drivers excess of £100 or so which means in reality you would have to pay about £450 excess and if you are paying monthly you would have to pay the...
Did you have an older female on that? I thought it would be cheaper as I will be able to get valver insurance from them for about £1200 (I think it was about that) when I have had my license a year.
Try Bell mate. They are giving me the best quote by miles for when I will have had my license a year (early december - I just turned eighteen last week). I would definately get a quote with them mate as I will be taking a policy out with them in December.
I was out measuring the one currently on mine earlier and it is around the 30mm mark????
Are you talking about the nut that goes in the very centre of the hub where the driveshaft is?
Also, I got the hub but I thinkn the bearings may have gone in that one too :(
If you hold where the hub...
I love that car!!! I think the cage looks amazing from the back but the part beside the front seats isn't really to my taste. He must have spent an absolute fortune on the ......car and IMO it's one of the best mark 1's - even if just for the crazy paint (not to mention the engine  .)
Cheers mate. Is it really that difficult to get it off? The problem is that I don't have any decent sized wrenches to get any leverage on it. I'll speak to a mate though if I have to and just borrow one off him.
So far the list of things I will need is:
Hub Nut
Locktite (or similar to put...
I know that when the new hub is being put on you need to replace the hub nut with a new one. Would I have to buy this from renault or could I get any nut that was the right size - if so what size is it that's needed?
What is this nut actually called? - so that I know what to ask for at...
