Mole and a few others on the forum have done the volvo conversion. I'm sure some of them will be able to help you out and will probably reply if they see this post.
I'm not sure of the technical details of which is easier etc I'm just going by what I have read on the forum previously. What...
From that angle mate I would say that those tyres look fine. As for the other problem I don't have a clue LOL. Try posting in the exterior, power etc section as you may get a few more replys there.
I think it's a bit of a bugger to do the conversion by all accounts mate. Have you considered either a 5gtt conversion or a volvo turbo engine (not entirely sure of which volvo engine it is) as there are a few on the site who have done those conversions.
Also, you might get more responses if...
IMO if your tyres are well worn and below the legal limit you shouldn't just be worried about what happens if you get caught - you should be worried about the fact that it's dangerous for yourself and others. If your tyres are well worn then in the wet you will be fcked especially if you still...
This is what it said on another website mate:
Tread Depth
The legal minimum tread depth for cars and light trailers (including caravans) up to 3500 kgs gross vehicle weight and/or 8 seated passenger vehicles including driver is:
A minimum of 1.6mm in a continuous band throughout the...
CIS are a joke - officially. As I will be taking out a policy in my own name in December anyway I was only wanting insurance under my mums name for a couple more months so I spoke to them today to ask if they would still insure me if I put the car back to standard (if I refitted the standard...
OK. I am picking up the hub from the scrappys on monday.
What I was was wondering though is roughly how long it would normally take to take off the old hub and replace it with the new one?
I'm just asking this because I'm really tight for time at the moment but need to get this done and...
Another question LOL. Is knowing the bolt spacing enough to know if you will get the right hub? Wha I mean is - are all hubs with 52mm bolt spacing exactly the same with regard to the camber of the wheel relative to the suspension?
The reason I ask is that I phoned them and he said that...
Yeah I was thinking that. At the end of the day it's only going to cost me £15 so even if I had to buy another one it would be £30 in total which is just £5 more than another scrappy are charging for 1.
I'll let you know how I get on.
The guy was saying to take it in but I need my car today later on. I've measured mine and it's 52mm spacing and the bolts are with one closer to the wheel than the other. I'll phone them and see what he has to say. This scrappy says that he can sell it for £15 so i can't really complain.
Do I have to check the hub bolt spacing etc when getting one from the scrappy?
I'm just wondering because I phoned another scrappy who said that he would have to know if the bolts to the strut were mounted vertically or if one of the bolts was closer to the wheel than the other. He said he...
I think I'll just pass on the hub Lunner as I phoned a local scrappy earlier and he said they would have one and that it would be about £25 (no doubt get that down a bit). I'm going to get that tomorrow so that I can fit it early next week.
Thanks anyway though mate.
As for the ball...
Now that's low. One of my brothers mates has a 106 that is probably as low as that - it looks awesome but would be a right pain in the arse for driving. I'm sure it's lowered over 100mm
Lunner - I'll get back to you on that in the next couple of days if I can't get a hold of one.
Nick - what nut is it that you have got? I know I'll need to replace the driveshaft nut when I'm replacing the hub but I don't know if that's the one you mean? If so then I may be interested if...
Ok then mate. When would be the soonest you could post it out to me?
The thing is that I want to get it sorted before my parents go away on holiday as I will need the car a lot while they are away for getting to and from work etc and they are taking their car with them so I won't have a...
Thanks for the info and the offer mate. I'm not near cambridge though so I wouldn't be able to do that.
When you say that the hub from eurocarparts is £48.29 I pressume that is without bearings?
I might try PM'ing j3ned or mat brown but I will need to find out about what hubs are OK to...
^^^^^
Agreed - some great pics there.
I think it looked really good with the turinis - but I also think that 16v clios really suit those gold rims for some reason even though on most cars (other than 16v clio's) I don't really like them. Someone else (clio-16-valver?) had them as well and...
Can't see why you couldn't have a cold air feed mate. Also, yours should be an SPI model and not a carb model. I think it was only the 1.1 Clio that was carb. Someone else should be able to confirm if I am right or not.
