Never rev your car hard when cold or when stationary (hot or cold) this creates bore wash very bad.
When the engine is under load reving an engine which was designed to be driven fast is no problem. (Good oil and warm engine required).
Engines that are frequently driven hard do not coke...
Had all this checked on mine. It wont cure the problem outright.
Had the suspension mount mode done as well. This will not help in this situation as it is not related to the problem.
Sorry to be so negative
Final go at this!
The Hillpower Group N ECU is a renault developed chip. The R-Sport is not the same.
The question here is which one is best. Is anyone out there using one or the other and what are they like.
Only the facts no fiction.
How about the dry though.
Different people like different tyre I guess.
What do you run now out of interest and do you suffer the problem posted by 172cup_nut
Dealer trade for a year old cup with about 10000 is around £ 9000.
They will always try and clear about £1500 to £2000 on the re-sale.
Dont forget these guys are in business to make money. If you can sell privatley then you will get more for your car.
Always worth a haggle at a good...
Problem here is too much grip with the Continentals as they struggle to maintain grip they load and unload the suspension, causing the engine to move back and forth.
I tried Michelins and they improved the problem by the fact that once they spin up they keep spinning till you back off (less...
Go to their website http://www.hillpower.co.ukwww.hillpower.co.uk and get their number.
Give them a bell and tell them what you are running. I spoke to a guy called Nick who was quite helpfull and he seemed to know his stuff.
Personally, if your not going to mode the car anymore, get...

Does anyone Know how going from 16" to 17" wheels effects the acceleration.
These would be fitted to a clio cup.
There is plenty of stuff on the speedo accuracy but nothing on how the incresed gearing might effect the car as well as the change in unsprung weight on the handling
At the risk of going over old ground here goes.
I would like to now if anyone has upgraded their 172 Cup with an aftermarket ECU or had a remap done on a rolling road.
What was it and was it any good. What price and where etc.
Lastly, as this is a somewhat clouded issue, is there a...
Mine had the same problem. One of the gear box mountings was slightly loose and it had moved forward about a quarter of an inch.
It was better, but it can still do it if your a bit heavy with your right foot and let the clutch go to quick.
It is a common problem. Get them to check it...
Always a tricky one this.
First of all you need to have a full service history from a renault dealer.
If you have this then from a legal aspect they have to honour the warrenty period.
They will always protest this as it is a way of convincing people to go and pay full price at a...
Does anyone know a good tyre fitter for alloy wheels in the South East, Bromley Kent area. I am prepared to travel for the right guy.
Need somone who can balance the wheels properly and is capable of fitting new tyres without causing damage to the wheels

Does anyone have the rolling radius figures for the conversion from a 16" wheel with 195/45 tyres to a 17" with a 205/40 tyre
Friend off mine wants to change to 17" wheels on his 172 cup, has anyone done this and how did it effect the cars handling etc.

I seem to be getting clutch judder but only when its cold and damp.
Car has done this from new but because of the dry weather this year it was a problem that went away. Now the weather is more like its normal self I am experiancing it again.
Whats strange is it is very...

What sort of improvement is expected and how much it is ?
Has anyone had this done to there CUP
Has anyone bought or used EBC Turbo Groove Discs for their Clio 172 or Cup
Are they better then the O/E and what pad was recommended with them
Are there any other brake discs you can recommend that have a rust resistant finish to them
Thanks for the reply Ben
Did they find anything specific ? My local dealer is OK but it helps to give them a lot of info as they take you more seriously and inturn check things over properly
I have recently had a problem with my 172 Cup becoming somewhat of a handfull when driving.
It is more than normal torque steer as it really tries to pull the wheel from your hands, plus there is a vague feeling when turning sometimes. It also has a lot of vibration through the steering...
I have just had my car returned from the dealer after having the ACTIS bullitin modifiction done.
This appears to have fixed the problem. The fix is basically having a section of metal cut away from the strut mount top section, so the round mount hole becomes slightly elongated at one side...
