Thanks Dan, I know what you mean about the central horizon, i'm not overly keen on central tbh, but this was straight out of camera, so couldn't be bothered messing about with it.....will take a look at the suggestion though, as I have SO many shots to choose from lol.
Thanks Scott. Yeah Skye...
If you're on a budget, you really cannot go wrong with the Canon 55-250 IS, it's tack sharp, has image stabilisation, and can be picked up new from as little as £130 from eBay. I've had one and loved it. Regarded as one of the best budget lenses in that reach for optical quality.
Sunset last Wednesday, Kyleakin, Isle of Skye. I was hoping to catch a decent sunset behind the Skye bridge to silhouette it, and wasn't disappointed. Straight out of camera this one.

Really like this Adele, adding a person into the mix makes it stand out from the other rapeseed shots....the fact the person is rather pretty helps lots too lol
Here's a couple of shots from my trip up to Skye/the Highlands last week...

Both generally clichéd shots, but...
Yeah I noticed that too....it's not on the original shot on the laptop, yet when it uploaded to Flickr they appeared....normally happens with a lot of sharpening, and i've always noticed Flickr seems to sharpen images a tad on uplaod, so can only assume that's what's happened here....
The...
Personally I would step the lens down to f/9-11....I wouldn't expect it to be tack sharp at f/6, especially if it's at 85mm as it's almost wide open....
Some crackers uploaded again. It's been miserable here all weekend so been editing old photos....
Here's another one of a sunset over Keswick from Ashness jetty on Derwentwater....the last one seemed to do well, which was a 4 minute exposure....this one is a 6 minute exposure, which has...
Thanks Scott....
Here's another much better take on the bridge (in my opinion anyhow lol)

Here's one from today....quite a surreal/strange location at high tide....low tide, it all makes sense lol

Cheers, I know it looks like it does, and it does, but that's the tarn heading back around towards me....plus I may have altered it slightly by trying to reduce the distortion on the fence with shooting at 11mm and not really knowing what I was doing in Lightroom LOL
Blea Tarn sunrise...when the light started to break on the far fells, it made it totally worth that 4am start.

Dan that first one is superb! What lens did you use for this? I'm assuming wide angle and shot rather low down? The light on the grass is just superb, and that sky!
Thanks, and yeah you're probably right to be honest, but I was getting yelled at from a farmer for parking in his gateway when I ran down his field to the tarn to get this, so it was all done quickly, hand held 4 shot pano with no filters....I thought he was gonna run the 182 over with his...
Yeah I know what you mean, although since i've started using The Photographers Ephemeris, combined with The Weather Channel app, i've been lucky. That weather channel app has never let me down in the Lakes yet :)
Yeah i've had some early starts and got some crap ones too, but luckily the good outweigh the bad....plus, even just average first light in the Lakes is special to be honest. Just glad I got something today as it was my first visit to Blea, but won't be the last.
Tomorrow mate, only upload one shot per day, and that one was the easiest to work on when I got home after that early morning haha! Would have loved the tarn to be still for the reflections, but got a nice little bit of light break over Side Pike and the Langdales.....shall reveal all tomorrow :)
I only use Talkphotography, but even then it's rare. I feel it's one of those forums where you really have to put effort into it, to get any kind of reply back, especially in the critique boards. Advice wise it's ok, there are a couple of people on there who are great, but besides that, I...
Some great shots added since I last logged in! Loving the sunsets, there's been some great ones this week, which i've missed due to work :(
Here's one from this morning, taken on the way home from a sunrise at Blea Tarn in the Lakes....the sunrise alone was worth the 4am start, and then this...
A bit of a strange day yesterday....the jetty shot again, but with 1356 views! Normally only average about 300 hits per day across my whole stream lol
