Im with Tesco at the moment, but they wont budge on the renewal quote. Im 32, with 9 years NCB so it shouldnt be too much! Can anyone recommend a better insurer, preferably one who doesnt mind alloys/air filter/springs as mods without charging a fortune.
Anyone tried elephant.co.uk - their...
Not what you want to hear, I know, but wise words from Rich-D.....theyll no doubt put two and two together and youll end up bumping into them when you least expect it, which could turn nasty. Depends if you want to spend the next few weeks/months looking over your shoulder all the time...
Anyone insured with Tesco with a Mk2 172.....
How much extra do they charge for (a) uprated (in my case, Eibach) springs and (b) air filters (again, in my case, a Ramair).
Weird! After reading all about it on here, I phoned Renault UK and they asked me to photocopy/fax them all the necessary paperwork. Even that was striken with problems as they lost the letter and 1st fax, but they have now confirmed receipt of said documents and are processing the request.....
You might not get a choice Im afraid....when I spoke to Renault UK about increasing the warranty on my 172 import from 2 to 3 years, they stipulated that if they extend it, you -have- to have it serviced at Renault....charming!

However, try the same trick on the track and the car brakes very safely, indicating a spring/damper issue. The racers have...
Mine weaved about under heavy braking (especially at high speed) from std and things have improved a little with the Eibachs fitted. From what I can gather, its a trait of the 172! Its a little un-nerving, to say the least....my old Fiesta turbo (heavily modded) was far more composed in similar...
Sounds like the guy in the black 172 last year @ Bedford who stayed out too long, then got terminal brake fade at the only corner on the 2.9 mile track with a barrier, braked for a 90 left from 100mph and used the barrier to stop the car!
Thanks for all the replies....very helpful!
To answer the questions, I intend to do a number of track days this year (one down @ Bedford, one booked for 27th June, then a handful of others)...around 10 or so (max).
The car is very good as std and Ive since fitted Eibach springs which really...
