...just phoned them and apparantly its broken, and wont be fixed for a month or so! Nightmare!!
Anyone know of a good RR in the South East area, other than Power Eng...
Frosty - since the 172 and Cup engines are identical, it makes a nonsense out of the statement that the R-Sport ECU wont fit a Mk2 172!! Sounds like a marketing ploy by R-Sport to make 172 owners wait, then charge them more for the same part!
BTW, anyone know just how much is stored in the ECU...
Arjun - 3-4mm is nothing to worry about, and no doubt within the tolerances for the AVO springs, build of the car etc. To do the measurement properly, youll need a billiard-smooth, totally flat surface and very carefully measure each side of the car (from road to top of the arch, taking a centre...
Ditch the b**ch and go for a HillPower Induction Kit - fit it yourself and dont worry about the fuelling mod - it sounds awesome...almost as good as the sound of the Clio V6 (or am I just losing the plot?!). I love it!
Someone needs to take a std mk2 172, rolling road it before, then fit a Cup ECU, an R-Sport ECU and a Group N ECU and run the car on the rollers each time for a definitive answer!
A lot of very confusing/conflicting posts!!
The R-Sport ECU cannot possibly be the same as the Clio Cup Race Cars for one very simple reason - they use a completely different ECU setup which has no relation to either the 172 or 172 Cup road cars. Plus, the racers are based on a Mk1 172 setup...
My advice would be to get it on a rolling road to check the fuelling. Not all the 172s run lean....and a simple increase in the fuelling can cure it if you do find a problem.
Id speak to BB Tuning if I were you...
Cupsize - how long ago did you buy the wheels as theyre not on Primas web site and having searched Google I cant find any links for Cromadora...do you know if theyre still in business? Are the wheels 7x17 or 7.5x17?
Thanks Sangy. Interesting, cuz at one of the RR sessions, the 172s with Viper kits were down on power vs a std 172! Mind you, thats all down to the RR to a certain extent.
Is the Dastek mod easily removeable and how much did your insurance company sting you for it?
Having just completed a...
Rumour has it the ECU isnt finished, and at present generates less power than std on a std 172! Most of the fabled R-Sport mods for the Cup seems to be vapour-ware right now...
If you want a superb garage in Essex, then try Stancombe Vehicle Engineering, near Orsett. Colin races in the Clio Cup (with a 4 car team) and has been in Motor Racing for 20 odd years. You couldnt really find a better/more knowledgable mechanic.
He lowered my 172 on Eibachs (which I supplied)...
