1st port of call,crank/tdc sensor it may not know the engines turning so not signalling to spark(very common on these) give it a clean and retry
before attemtping a compression test check you have a spark consistantly 1st

20mm is going to be a noticable difference,but alot more work involved
for the short term il hang onto the subframe transplant the arms and shocks and possinky turinis then take it from there
i understamd the differemces on the cup non cup arms but the subframes are baffling me
are you saying the ph1 and ph2 are the same but the cup is different or that the ph1 is different to ph2 but mounts the bulkhead the same
really cant see why renault would use a different subframe in the...
pretty sure the non cup is supposed to have it in
either way as it stands my non cup has the same crap non adjustable lights as my cup so its not really a issue

hopefuly thats a decent match for the lil marks on both them 172s and turinis
im debating changing front arms front n rear spring/dampers and turinis but not subframe
realistically what am i going to achieve by swapping frames? i believe the arms sit slightly...
to me if you open the tb out further and dont alter anything else its going to create a bottle neck effect and unless other in/outlet mods have already been done it will be counterproductive
main reason is its already had a new one and by the time its coded its more like 400 plus trying to convince the wife to spend 400 on a box for one of my 3 practically identical cars will be alot harder than swapping the uch

its pretty decent condition tbh i was planning on donating it to my ph2 but when the idea of a one off ph1 cup came to mind it certainly tickled my pickle
i have a set of turinis i could swap over aswell im just missing the cup spoiler but thats not a huge issue
washers are blanked off and u dont have the switxh for the headlamp adjuster on my non cup but weirdly i do on the cup-il go have a look see if the wirings there on either
id warm it up drain the lot change filter and start again
if theres too much oil in and your level sensors saying otherwise (its new so not faulty) id be pointing towards a bit gunk floating about giving you a daft reading
what do know is my cup has ac and its rhestat (heater resistor) was different to both the 172 non cup with ac and the cup without ac
identical all but the last letter of part bumber, iirc ir was ------d/d -------d/f
am i right in thinking if i swapped the ecu out of my non cup for my spare cups ecu/uch/key would it wotk minus the auto lights/wipers
for what they worth im tempted to keep itvas a spare since they so tempramental

i am now pondering over the idea of transplanting the entire front end (minus cosmetics) subframe etc from my 172 cup and rear suspension too so essentially a ph1 cup
having a serious debate with myself as to which i keep long term phase 1 just bought it
my phase 2,we've been through alot yogether other the last 30 months or so
given the choice which would you keep
