So i have discovered my car has only had the timing/cambelt done not the Aux belt. Can anyone recommend a good garage in the Yorkshire area to carry out the work. If it isnt too expensive i may have the camblet done again too because i am not certain it has been done, even though i have a recipt...
I am so confused now, what are the auxilary tensioners?
Cheers for that i will check.
Great, this is turning out to be expensive. I will have to get on out and check it.
So i just need the Aux belt doing?
Right so it is only £100 to get the Aux belt done? I think i will do that because...
For both doing? That isnt too bad i guess. I think i trust that the timing belt has been done, depending on how much of a price difference there is i might just get the Cambelt done.
It seems to run perfectly and £35 sounds a lot for spark plugs so i would have thought it has the right ones...
Brilliant. I am pretty sure that has been done, the fuel filter thing does seem a bit wierd but apart from that it seems ok. I will ring the garage that did it maybe.
Any ideas how much a cambelt change is going to be?
Well thats good to know...... FFS. The guy really didnt seem like the kind of guy to lie about it being done, he was a a really nice bloke and about 60.
Is there any way of telling if it has been done or not?
I have a recipt here for "Full service and timing belt"
Full Timing Belt £120
Fan Belt £10
Spark Plugs £35
Air Filter £13
Oil Filter £5
Oil £26
Fuel Filter £9
Labour £200
Total: £418
Some of those parts seem a tad...
I bought my Clio 182 4 weeks ago. It has done 23,600 miles now (900 more than when i got it) and as far as i can tell it has only had the timing belt done on it. There is a lot of talk in adverts of both belts being done. Can someone enlighten me on the other belt that needs doing and when it is...
Nice car, you don't see many in that colour. That does look pretty much the same. How difficult is it to get the Skoda item to fit the Clio's bumper? Do i need to buy fixtures etc?
I do really like the idea of carbon, it is just the cost.
You do make a very good point, i was a bit shocked when it fell off, good old French engineering. What do the skoda ones look like fitted?
Today at a.... reasonable speed.. my front splitter decided to throw itself away and go under the car. Luckily as far as i can tell it has done no damage to the car but it doesnt look right and i need to replace it.
Should i try and find a standard one second hand or should i buy a carbon one...
Welcome to the forum mate! You clearly have good taste. Not that i have owned a focus then a clio or anything lol
Such a shame about insurance, it winds me up no end but i am sure you will love your Clio.
Where abouts in West Yorkshire are you? I am near Halifax.
I would just like to say, your car looks SPOT ON as it is, really really nice!
The way it fills the arches and the exhausts look brilliant, i dont know what mods you have but it works well.
I wouldnt want to change it.
Persistance maybe. Obviously you can't force money out of someone but if you make his life hell enough i am pretty sure you would get someething out of him. Or like i said before just repay the favour by damaging his car.
Don't be stupid.
Which is why you have his details, so you can follow it up. Im not going to drag him out of his house or anything I'm not a mad man but i would follow it up certainly. My car is my pride and joy.
It depends if it took a chunk out of them or not, or how much it was going to cost. Not everyone has money to throw at repairs or even fuel to drive the thing in my case.
I would have got his details and made him pay for it, simple.
If he had been argumentative or aggressive when trying to get his details for the damage he had caused i would have waited until he went into McDonalds and kicked his door in (since you can't kick him in because he is so old) job...
I am the same, i just don't understand what i am doing or what i need to buy etc (beyond a bottle of triplewax liquid gold and a sponge) but i am always very impressed with people that do.
My issue with it (appart from not knowing how to do it) is, if i am using my car every day or every other...
This is exactly what i have been looking for.
I am assuming this will be pretty much the same for the 182? Would i have to tell my insurers if i was to remove all these things or put bucket seats in?
I know eaxctly what you mean but im fairly sure It's just life. Everyone always thinks other people have it better its the same with almost everything. Car they drive, clothes they wear, looks, money, house, gilrs the list goes on. It can't be helped lol
