Every so often when I start the car the service light comes on and the display flashes oil! Ive checked it every time and the oil level seems fine?
Also once in a while the tractionc ontrol and abs lights come on (at the same time) when driving. They go of f if I turn the ignition on and...
John Barker who writes for EVO formerly of Perfomance Car (another excellent magazine) is a proven driver, Im sure he used to race a 968 clubsport! Cant be that bad can he?
Apparently Optimax is actually closer to 99 RON and this the best you can by from your regular garage. Remember reading about a rolling road test once and the max bhp was produced when using Optimax
Thats right, Anti lag basically keeps the turbo on boost all the time, practically from idle, can apparently be activated on some turbo car ECUs (Integrale for one). Not a good idea on a standard car though, as Frosty says the unburnt fuel ignites on the exhaust, this raises the temps...
Bought my 172 in January, the passenger seat rattles badly, and I have several stone chips on bonnet already!
Get a fit bird to sit next to you in the passenger seat and it should stop rattling!
Rear head rest also rattles in mine!
Just got quoted £809 fully comp in my mums name through elephant! Good deal or should I ring around some more? Liverpool Victoria wouldnt quote with me as an additional driver?
Will I get a better quote elsewhere?
My dad had a 360 modena sold it and got a 360 spider, best sounding V8 Ive ever heard, absolutley screams, redlines about 8750rpm! He lets me drive it every few months if I wash it for him, pretty good deal I think!
Yeah feels like a kickdown switch, maybe its for auto clios and they just fit it on all of them! Shame it doesnt drop a gear for you, would be nice on the motorway!
Tyre-Weld isnt fool proof, will piss straight back through the tyre if the hole is too big! Happened to me once, bought two cans aswell and it aint cheap!
Some garages that specialize in car tuning have hydraulics lifts that are floor level so you could in effect lift the car up if it had no clearance at all.
Is 60mm not a bit too low on standard shocks though, dropped my punto 60mm on standards, was really low, but clunked a bit on full lock and one shock leaks a bit! Dont know how tough renault shocks are though?
Would 60mm be ok, planning on sticking with my 16s for now anyway, wont look so bad...
Just really want to change the springs at the mo, whats the lowest I can go without casuing too much wear and tear but would still be noticabley low enough to get rid of the gaps between the wheels and the arches (I love my car but it looks like a jeep!)
Which are the best springs and where...
Rus,
Can I retain the existing 6 CD changer if I fit an Alpine CDA7894RB CD/Receiver in my Mk2 172? Roughly what is the RMS output of the head units internal amp (will it drive a set of components until I can afford a seperate amp?
Also will you price match other competitors...
I got done at 102 in my good old punto sporting got a summons and had to to go to Wakefield magistrates court. Represented myself said I had no excuse to be going that fast but the conditions were dry, empty motorway etc. and explained that I needed my car for work. Got 6 points and £100 fine +...
Double sided tape is fine, just make sure you use the thin strips and not the thick ones! I know loads of people whove lost plates using the thicker variety, Ive always used the thin stuff and never had any problems.
The power steering pipe split on my dads 360 spider after about 600 kms and dumped its fluid, funnily enough this happened right outside the dealership, a bit embarassing for them!
My dad has a fleet policy for his company so i put my car on that for 2 months at a cost of £180, for me to insure it myself when I start a new policy in march it would cost me £1290 fully comp with Admiral, I have full private no claims bonus, which is the same as normal no claims bonus but...
Yes my car is an import, does this mean it has an immobilser already fitted? In which case I could get a cat 2 -1 upgrade? Rather than splashing out on a cat 1
Old topic I know but advice would be appreciated!
What alarm should I get for my Mk2 172? Upto £300 or there abouts!
Had a Clifford concept 300 on my Punto Sporting (paid £300 fitted) but fancy a change, Toad AI 606 any good?
Can anyone recommend a fitter as I don’t want my interior...
The amp in the head unit maybe powerful compared to the standard head unit internal amp but will never compare to a seperate amplifier. You really need to get a seperate amp to drive the components to their full potential. Ive not got a system in my 172 as yet but in my previous car I had Alpine...
Did 158 in an AMG E55 on the way to Manchester Airport once and had a bout 130 out of a Ferrari 360 Spider (what a noise)!
Also 125mph out of my mk2 172 racing a new shape 328ci, that was fun, he looked really puzzled as to why this little clio was giving him such a hard time!
Intellistart is really cool but when it comes down to it you have to have the chip removed from your key to make it work and this (surprise surprise) is actually one of the best security features your car has! Removing it makes the car vulnerable even if you have a (supposedly) good alarm like a...
