VAT is irrelevant, the VAT is included in the price so you pay the VAT for him, and if he sells it for less he pays less VAT to the revenue, he's talking :quiet: !!

If you really want it then go for it but be prepared for a scary month before the cam belt is done, I drove like a granny...
I'm insured on my man's 205 GTi but he only let me drive the old one twice and I haven't driven the new one yet, insuring me is a cost saving exercise! Closest I've got in the new one was sitting in the drivers seat while he went and got something, just in case, because he'd parked on double...
I think the arch gap is bad-ish, however the flash highlights the gap so it looks worse than it actually does (gimme 12 hours and I'll have some shiny new daylight photos too!). Tyres are 195/50.
To be fair I don't think I've ever seen a car which has come from the factory at an appropriate...
What can I actually do about the steering wheel though? I heard they pretty much all did it so I wasn't going to let it put me off the car, ha. It also doesn't look *as* bad in daylight, the flash is so unforgiving! I'd imagine a refurb would be pretty expensive and wouldn't know where to go, I...
Will do :) Just also remembered I wanted to get a spare set of door trims and try colour-coding them, not convinced how successful I'll be though which is why I'm going to do it on a spare set! It seems silly that on the ph1 they colour coded everything except the door trims :dapprove:
And of...
Ha, yeah I will over the weekend, now I've posted up some naff ones it's incentive for me to improve on them. Had it cleaned on Weds, gotta be a record two days past cleaning without rain, chances of it staying dry tomorrow to get some sunny pics? Fingers crossed!
The previous owner left a fresh set in the boot! :approve: Didn't want to put them in and ruin them in the middle of winter though, so in the boot they stay until the weather gets more reliable
Greets, someone asked for photos of the 172 as it's standard, I forget who though sorry :o
I've had this car ("Reggie" - I always name them!) since December and loving it but haven't had it clean for long enough to take photos since then, fingers crossed for this weekend but in the meantime...
I don't think I've taken any yet >_< Chances of sun and a clean car on the same day in winter = nil! But it's completely standard afaik.
In the next couple of weekends I might take it out for some scenic photography, will post up when I do :)
I'm a 25 yr old accountant - not remotely chavvy - and I drive a ph1. I've only seen two other ph1s on the road since buying mine and both were driven by guys who looked about my age.
Around here it's the ph2s which are driven by chavvy teens as they're all gitty rich kids, they wouldn't be...
I got the impression that, Halfords stickers aside, Sport on the left under Renault is a 1*2, Sport on the right under Clio is just a nice trim level on pretty much any engine... From the above posts there might just be alot of people with Halford stickers though? :S
Probably all the money you've had to spend on your current Clio, you will spend again on a new one! At least you know what you've got with yours ^_^
Cambelts, tyres, brakes and suspension are the common replacements needed from what I've read on here (only had mine two months). £900 isn't too...
Now, I've had a fair few cars in my time, and I've had a few with naff brakes, but my 172 confuses me!
Normally, the brakes are spot on - stood it on its nose a few times after driving my other car! - but when it's raining the pedal sometimes goes pracically to the floor before anything...
Best I've had is 37mpg on a long journey, with town driving I get 30-33.
Insurance is the killer, and maintenance when it needs it as someone said earlier, I don't think I'd want to pay those running costs for an occasional use motor!
TBH if I were you (which I'm obviously not) I'd stick with...
The cheapest! Mine has that useless instruction to use Super inside the petrol cap but no need tbh, at the end of the day it's not a 599 and I'm not on a track most of the time, if super has a tiny performance benefit, it won't be significant enough to notice when I'm crawling to work in a...
Peugeots are notorious for LOOS! My old 306 used to US AND OS :dead: and my 309 just OS as long as you weren't stupid but it was controllable which made for lots of fun on roundabouts  The hubby makes the most of the OS in his 205 too :D
So far the only time anything's gone awry in the...
Monthly:
Tax £20
Insurance probably about £45
Petrol £150 ish
So just over £200/month, plus the odd servicing bill (£500 last month for the cambelt! :dead:) - not tooo bad really
Good job you checked! :S
When I bought mine the cambelt was 6 years / 30,000 miles old - drove it around for a nervous few weeks until payday when I could afford to get it changed! The garage didn't comment on its condition but I felt much better driving it afterwards!!
I really like the gearbox on my 172! The gear stick moves really "definitely" between gears, as opposed to my last few cars (Peugeots) which have been quite wishy washy, admittedly I stalled a few times when I first bought it thanks to the rather sudden bite point on the clutch though :o >_<
The last three cars I bought before my Clio were Peugeots, so it seems quite frankly marvellous in comparison! :rasp:
I have noticed a strange speed-related noise in the last few days though... I don't think it's just road noise, but it only starts, quietly, at 60ish... :S
I've only done 12 (I think) laps over a couple of trips but it varies so much on there, it's madness! I've had awesome laps where I've barely seen anyone, and absolute horrors with crashes and jams all over the show :S Luckily never had a wobble myself, yet!
+1 for Clio!
Alot more bike accidents on NBR, plus if you do have an off, you're more likely to get injured (as with on the road really!)
Bikes are faster than alot of cars in a straight line, but don't half get in the way on the corners! :dapprove:
