mmmm, going on what ive bought for my car -
piper 270 cams with veniers + complete head £210
supersprint manofold - £180
headwork - £400
de cat - £30
having the car mapped will send it just over £1k
Ben's figures will be more accurate than mine and the others as his done throttle bodeis before.
a better investment would be buying a 2.0 then, seeing as you can see 180bhp out of the 2.0 for less than 1k and get the 2.0 supplied and fitted for less than 2k.
as local as you can to south east london, cars going to be a 2.0 hybrid with a williams ecu. cams, headwork, supersprint manifold, the guy doing my engine recomends chip wizards but thats a fair old distance..
the setup on the white hybrid cost well over £3.5k although i think that may have included cams + head work, not sure...
i reckon you could do it for 2.5-3k.
chris- the rear seats and belts are out, will go more hardcore when i get my hybrid lump in, i think the bonnet is half the wieght off the normal one, the carbon bonnet wieghs around 7kg.
rhino - i think it was the same knife hahaha
f7r bottom will fit your 1.8 without any mods all you need is willy ecu, you can use the megane head although its alot of hassle, the 1.8 head is fine and better for porting, the williams head has slightly larger valves but not as good for porting
Martin - i have a renault badge to go init, just need to attach it, as you can see theres no holes for it so im going to use some sort of glue, cheers for your help regarding the pins, dont want to buy some do you? ordered osme today :|
Chrisk - the bonnet wieghs ALOT less than the standard...
ok its still not 100% perfect but its 100% better than it was and im sure with more fiddling of the brackets i could get it fine, i dont think anyone will notice it now though.
this was the problem -
the lip that you can just about see curving off to the left isnt ment to be there, on...
its already packed out, sticks out about 1cm from the headlights. think i will just raise it at that end on the pins so it sits free.
could you use one of the existing wing bolt holes to mount the pins? would be to close to the edge?
sorry to hassle you mate but do you have an under bonnet picture so i can see exactly where they went in?
the problem with my bonnet is that the right side sits higher and fouls the scuttle pannel.
through the plastic bit of the wing? could you put like a red arrow on the picture i posted of where you put them through please, this would be a great help.
i also notice the tape on the edge's i guess this is where it fouls the scuttle panel? i have this as well, going to use slear plastic...
would go very well with your car, its the perfect colour for it and would go with the wheels, the problem im having with fitting is a problem with my car i think, the old bonnet had dents init where it had been hit and im sure this has bent something, im just going to use pins as i can line it...
yer, i was thinking there but are the pins going to be long enough ?
i think i still might have to go for the escortrs raised look due to the way the bonnet touchs the scuttle pannel.
the bonnet doesnt sit straight as said in the origanol post and the only way i can see to mount it properly is using pins, as said in the origanol post.
one side of the bonnet sits lower than the other if i used pins i could adjust the hieght from each side so it will sit right.
after struggling for ages trying to mount my carbon bonnet properly, the only way i can see to do it is to use pins at the windscreen end off the bonnet, where could i mount them? i cant see anywhere? other people must have done it before...
im sure i could get it to fit properly by moving it on the brackets/using washers/moving the latch over, its just a long process, the bonnet its self looks mint.
them pictures were all taken at the same time, you can see that one side is perfect but the other is pissed, ive tryed adjusting the mounts and the latch, i just cant get it to sit flush, how ive got it at the moment is as good as its going to get i think, it sits better than in those photos...
ill be honest and say the fit is herroundous its almost as if the bonnet is too small, the top bit where it meets the windscreen is impossible to get right, on one side the gap is 5mm on the other its 15mm, ive managed to level it out enough but it still catch's the corners at the top, the only...
