    Lower cost go pro alternative

There's so many manufacturers out there wanting a piece...if in doubt, only use vendors listed on Techmoan's review pages.

Better than a Hero? How so? I've been there with cheaper cameras, never again!

Where to mount go pro on a trackday?

That is a very good buy, worth every penny. I got mine in 2004 I think it was and it's attached to the headrest in my ST right now. It's been bolted on and off more times than I care to remember and still looks, feels, and works as it did the day that I first got it a decade ago.

    MarkCup's Fiesta ST

It was indeed. Unfortunately I had to call a halt to the day at lunch due to my Mintex 1144 rear pads wearing down to the metal. Unless there were multiple 172 Cups I'm sure I came across you on track once or twice...I still have very fond memories of my 172 Cup so I love seeing them still...

Wow. 3 years has flown by. Still no immediate plans to get rid...but I have to admit I do hanker after a Focus RS now.

Umm, you are, it's in the manual, go easy for the first 1,000 kms etc.

Full of s**t? Like how to make stuff in your car work and what oil to put in it. OK then.

The salesman told you that? I'd hazard a guess the handbook didn't. We all know how knowledgeable car salesmen are!

The manufacturers recommend caution over the first few hundred miles so that's what I do. If it was 'run in' by them, surely they wouldn't?

    New Car Ford

There is no definitive answer as you can never run the same engine in two different ways and then compare wear, power, efficiency etc. Do whatever you want to do. I myself, being an accountant and all, prefer a little caution.

It's internet hearsay plain and simple touted by those that can't wait patiently for the engine components to become properly mated to one another. It's alright, it's got warranty etc.

RS Monaco Clio surprise (Renault Clio R.S.16)

I'm sure that was the claim but then Evo mag as part of a group road test put all of the contenders on some scales and the 200T was heavier than the Juke Nismo...which is a lard arse. Exactly! If they'd done this from the beginning I'd most likely have one on my drive now and not an ST. As...

RS Monaco Clio surprise (Renault Clio R.S.16)

Agreed 100%. Sadly though it is just a marketing exercise. It's not at all giving us what we want from Renault though, is it? A hatchback available to all that feels alive and delivers engagement and thrills at a palatable price.

We're talking about the car are we not? His points are valid. Melt or not.

RS Monaco Clio surprise (Renault Clio R.S.16)

I was just about to write exactly this...he makes very very valid points. Archaic inefficient engine, heavier than the 1.6 it replaces in what was an already overweight hatchback body, but yeah, cor, 'smazin'. LOL Renault are almost as good as Apple as whipping up the froth and hype!

How do they do this, they assemble them on a test bed and run them for X number of hours? Seems like a lot of cost for nil gain to me. If your car is a keeper a little prudence early on will do no harm, if anything, it makes the act of slowly winding it up that much better.

RS Monaco Clio surprise (Renault Clio R.S.16)

Looks nice, probably will go well enough, regardless of price they will clearly sell the lot in no time...but I am so un-moved by this. I get not even the slightest twitch downstairs. Too little, too late. It's taken them three years to find their balls while the entire market has moved on. I...

Comical MPG!!! Over 52k miles I've averaged 38 mpg which includes a few trackdays, MP215, MR230, and a lot of booting it everywhere.

    M3. V8. Saloon.

Don't start spending money on it, you have form, you know that's the top of a very slippery slope that at the bottom ends with you selling the car.

    Disappointment at Brembo discs

I had exactly the same for all 125k miles I did in my 172 Cup from new. Low rear brake effort doesn't help the situation but it's absolutely normal. Don't worry about it.

mid life crisis 172 build attempting all the uk tracks..

Nice plans. There's no mention of the cambelt in your opening post...it's been done recently? If done on the nose at 5 years you've technically another year before you'll need to bother...but unless you have proof of when and by whom, most suggest getting it done anyway as a precaution.

WHAT "TRACKDAY" MODIFICATION TO CARRY OUT ON A TIGHT BUDGET???

Exactly this, spend the money on something you'll continue to get the benefit from whatever you might be driving.
