    Ph1 172 Refurbishment.

@dann2707 ^^ this! Girlfriend has the proper car and I just need something as a little run around kind of thing. Plus I have issues and this Ph1 is perfect. I’m actually going to use my E34 as the family car until I save up a bit for something proper to get. But any excuse to have another...

    Ph1 172 Refurbishment.

I like this a lot, Ph1’s are such a pretty little car when they look like this. I need a family car…these have iso fix in the back…and they are simple mechanically and easy to fix…… must resist the temptation. Tbh more appropriate family car than the Z3 I’m currently driving. When I see good...

iPhone camera won’t focus through a window

I’ve got an iPhone 14 Pro so has the LiDAR on to help with focusing. Which is great. But when you try to take a photo through a window it won’t focus, assume it’s the LiDAR giving the wrong focal point. There was a massive stag in the garden earlier and I couldn’t get a photo of it Tried...

GTechniq C5 wheel armour - I am very impressed! I hate cleaning wheels, especially the Style 32’s I have. But I have these wheels a good decontamination, clean and then a C5 coating before they went on the car the a few weeks back. I am washing them now and chucked some generic wheel cleaner...

I've got these dehumidifier bags / moisture trap and use them in my Z3 and they have been perfect. I've not had a misty window so far this winter and I am using the car most days and getting in it about 6am, so way before it would naturally clear up. I tend to use one for a few days then swap...

    The PH1 172 Appreciation Thread.

Has it been the year of the broken/unused Ph1?! I even had an awful thought of selling my E34 to get enough funds without needing to save up to "finish" the Clio - gear box rebuilt with LSD, sort out the body work and any rust, refresh the undersides (remove and powdercoat front subframe and...

The camo pant job worked 🤦🏻‍♂️ I thought the were Land Rovers, sure the other one was an Evoque and they were both being followed by a Range Rover

Couple of self driving Land Rovers being followed by a Range Rover have just done a few laps pat work and what I thought crashed into the roundabout.

    Monaco Money Pit

If you need an interior there is one under the stairs of a house I used to live in Reading. I didn’t know what to do with it so put it there and forgot about it as it was in a cupboard in the cupboard under the stairs so wasn’t even on show. I’d laugh if it is still there 9 years later.

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Finally changed the phaser solenoid seal. What a prick of a job Ended up using a punch to bend it enough to come out. Quick clean and then used a socket to push the new one in. Feels a lot more snug. Had the car running for 10mins and no oil on the rocker cover so take that as a win. Forgot...

    Ph1 172 Refurbishment.

Very nice. I am biased but always think a Ph1 is a proper pretty car. And I hate this one as it makes mine look scrap. One day it won’t….

The 'I work in I.T' thread

Not always helpful when they say it’s remote. I’ve had one where I sent my CV off as it was remote and looked decent but then when I got speaking to the recruiter it was office based in London and he said “oh I always say remote to get more interest”. No thanks.

What are people’s opinions on ceramic shampoo? I’ve used AMDetails Hybrid Shampoo in the past but I have seen GTechniq W3 Ceramic Wash but that is a bit pricy. The Z3 has a ceramic wax on and my E34 has Gtechniq EXO and CSL coating. After washing for the Z3 I use some normal sealant and the E34...

    Satellite or 4G Broadband

I did chose home plan but that was with another provider and not Starlink. I’ll double check though. I’ve just ran a speed test on my phone and it’s giving 32.6Mbps which is ok? Doesn’t say what the upload speed is, I know it’s not perfect as when I upload pictures on here it takes forever and...

    Satellite or 4G Broadband

Hmm I might have to go and work out how much data a month I use. I don’t do gaming so the slow ping isn’t a problem with satellite. It’s annoying as the main part of the village has actual broadband but I’m about a mile away and it doesn’t. We have managed as it is for a year but with WFH...

    Satellite or 4G Broadband

It’s about £500 for the equipment and then the package I was looking at about £75 a month but that was for 65Gb data a month. Which I have no idea will be enough. The next deal up was £125 a month. I don’t mind paying if it will do the job. Wait, what?! What is that mifi box?! That looks...

    Satellite or 4G Broadband

I don’t have broadband at home and still using an ADSL connection, because rural life. While the speed is ok and I can stream films, join Teams calls for work and use my VM do do work (the virtual desktop is pretty much a no go though) it is the reliability which is the worst and makes it...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Thank you, it’s been enjoyable and annoying at times but I do have long term plans for it and progress has slowed due to life. It is a dash out job unfortunately. However I just masked up as best as I could and painted in situ and then when the dash ever comes out I’ll do it properly.

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Spent some time on the Clio this morning while it was sunny. Took the wheels off to work out what I am going to do with the arch liners. Have a plan now so just need to order some of the plug fixings. Going to run the curved part and the front sections I’ll cut off the bit that attaches to the...

The 'I work in I.T' thread

Maybe this is where I have gone wrong recently as I’ve sent a few CVs to adverts on LinkedIn and got nothing back. But I’ve got pretty much a “basic” CV as I don’t have the corporate grovelling in it, just saying what I’ve done with no extra crap. It’s so easy to spot the rubbish people make up...

Fly by wire in a phase 1 172

I am going to say no, but that is based on having to move a load of pins in the ECU plug when I swapped my Ph1 ECU to a GEN90. If it were a Ph2 it was a direct swap with no need to move pins around.

It does have 32’s. No idea why I said 21, I blame too early in the morning. I’m glad I went for 17” and not 18/19” as it still retains some side wall for period look and comfort.

I sacked these off ASAP for Style 21’s for my E34. Still have the one as a spare but useless if I need it on the front as it won’t fit over my brakes now. Hindsight says I should have kept them due to value of original parts but I had no space to store them!

Sell as is, or get paintwork done first?

Yeah I wouldn’t be taking the sill covers off if you are selling. Can’t be rusty if you don’t look for it Taking the door cards off though is sensible as I wouldn’t have bought mine if I didn’t check - I ended up putting some kurust down there and painting to kill any little bit of rust (I...
