Maybe compared to what you are used to, but the sensation of speed is much greater than any car I have ever driven before.
I dont find my car to be "slow" but its certainly not "fast" either.
I would try and argue the case for the MX5 but tbh its not worth it, the clio is a better car for going to europe and carrying tools.
The MX5 is good for close to home trackdays where all you want is a couple of spare wheels and a few tools.

I am loving it, the new suspension just makes it even better. I would really fancy more power one day its just difficult deciding which way to do it.
