ClioSport Festival 2017 - Book Tickets Now!

I'll be there Friday. Setting up a snore zone in the corner of the field.

    Destiny

Played it last night too. I like it. Wasn't happy that the hunter is a bird. 😂

Jesus what is wrong with me. I even gave it a wash and hoovered the garage!?! Wheels and bumper are off. Wheels for a clean(!?!), and bumper so I can sort the adjusters on the headlights.

Took Friday off work to get the exhaust sorted on the car, and to head up to @dann2707's for the weekend for a hoon around the peaks. Took the car down to Automax, and Max set about working on a secondary mount for the exhaust. It was clear that the backbox wasn't made for a Clio, but with time...

PMS wheel spacers on (10mm rear and 18mm front), so have now got matching wheels back on. Woohoo! Hopefully getting the exhaust sorted tomorrow and headlight adjustment.

Yeah tried another set of clocks, and have the same issue. Although now the fuel gauge and speedo appear to work. I think!? I've got the 172 manifold on still but have hopefully got a new cat back system sorted. Unfortunately I'll be away at @dann2707 's this weekend. Going to see how it runs...

Yeah. Nigel was a bit perplexed by that too. We guess it's for the whiteline ARB

Well.... Somehow the little bugger passed!!! Some very odd advisories! Like a missing passenger seat?!? It also appears that the backbox is far too heavy. We noticed that there appears to be a snapped hanger on the other side of the exhaust too. So maybe it's no for a 172? Might have to...

Well, that was a fun drive this morning! Got to Tesco and filled up. Momentum of course! Speedo miraculously started working again, although seemed out. I noticed when I got to Tesco that the needle dropped way below 0. So I manually adjusted it back to zero - will check it against my GPS...

Yeah definitely! Took it for a quick spin down the road. EPAS seems heavy when turning at very low speed. Is that right? Hoping it's just that the tracking is out perhaps.

Last few tweaks tonight. Coolant bled and topped up, harness adjusted, new steering wheel added with horn, number plate light installed. Oh, and also found out a small problem. I pulled the car out the garage last night. There was a horrendous scraping noise. Turns out the wheels weren't...

So, after a lot of deliberating, I'm going to break the car for parts..... ONLY JOKING!!!! After more electrical testing today, I'm still no wiser as to the clock issue. However, all the warning lamps work. So the plan now is to use a gps speedo (as a working speedo is not actually...

Few jobs today. Bit more testing on the electrical side of things. Went and grabbed my cable chasing gear from work. Sends a pulse down the cable so makes chasing cat5 cable easier. Didn't have much luck with my cars wiring though. Got my new coilovers and leads fitted though, and got the...

172 dash needles are not moving SOS

Have got a spare set buddy. Does the same.

172 dash needles are not moving SOS

So we're a bit further forward on this one. New ecu set (with uch) means the high beam now works, and after a loose wire or 2, the horn works... However, I still have no needle movement on the clocks. I've put a multi meter in pins 24 (earth), and pins 4 (+ pre ignition), 16 (+ post...

So do you think it'll polish out?

Christ! Hopefully you and the occupants are ok though fella?

    Project: Nick Frost 172

Well, it could work. A reason for failure is a speedo needle not moving though apparently. But if it has a digital display, then it should pass. It would get it through the MOT for now, but it'd be nice to have a working fuel and temp gauge. 😂

I also set about a few other jobs. New vents installed. The demister T7 unit pipes will run to these, and should do a good job of clearing the screen. Also got some HG Sticker Remover. Awesome stuff, and smells lovely! Definitely use in a well ventilated area though... Quick cut out for...

So time for another quick update on the car... @Daz... came by Wednesday so I could check out his steering wheel, and put a face to a name. Was nice to meet you buddy! Shortly after, @Steven103 came over to relinquish his boredom and continue to try and figure out my electrical issues. He set...

172 dash needles are not moving SOS

Swapped f2 fuse (15amp). Nadda Checked the resistance on the original and it was working correctly

172 dash needles are not moving SOS

I've no trust run a resistor with the particular fuses but a visual check and they look ok. That said, the instruments all work correctly when a dash test is performed so I would have thought if a fuse had gone, then it wouldn't work.

172 dash needles are not moving SOS

Spare clocks have been tried and they do the same. Work on the dash test, but not on ignition or engine firing up. Tried the spare uch in a friends car and his clocks still perform as normal!?

Main beam, horn, clocks all not working

Well, I took it off the other day. Couldn't see any tell-tale scorching. Have got some spares now to try the uch, ecu and keys. See if any of them match.

Main beam, horn, clocks all not working

So have tried another set of clocks and another set of lights. Still the issues remain.

Couple more jobs this evening. I was trying to think of a way of securing the clocks to the top dash without making them difficult to remove (and not using cable ties). I purchased some fancy bolts and washers from CSF last year, so have used some for the headlights, and 2 for the clock...
