On my 182 I had the powerflex bushes in the mounts and found they constantly tilted or moved about, so I had them bonded in with tigerseal.
On my 172 Ive filled a standard mount with tigerseal and seems to be a very similar stiffness.
Its easy to replace the hangers, if nothing snaps! On my...
How much did it set you back for the stripdown and fix up mate?
Im looking to fit a Scenic lever as well, did you have to remove the gearknob to fit the yanoo?
Cars looking good as always!
Love these, my mate has a Nana 106 gti on ITBs and cams, and his brother has a black 106 gti turbo with 400+ bhp!
Always had a soft spot for them, especially purposeful ones!
Hi everyone,
My 172 came with a recessed system which has melted the 182 surround, and was bodged with jubilee clips to hold it in place in the cutout.
I have removed all of these, renewed bolts, rubbers etc. and struggling to align the exhaust?
I can get it central on the jack, tighten it all...
Ive got a scenic shift lever which I am rebuilding with standard bits (available on ebay), will be doing the linkage mod to tilt it back slightly, and adding a 10% shift pin to reduce the throw slightly. I need a new knob though!
Sorry, the distance from the back of the backbox (not the tailpipe), to the metal on the car that the extra PMS mount bolts on to.
Car is absolutely awesome by the way, I wish I had the seemingly unlimited funds that you do :p some real quality kit and workmanship going on here!
Hi mate, any chance you can tell me the distance of the end of the backbox silencer to the bracket bolted on the rear for the exhaust? I need something similar to align my Ktec recessed and only have 40mm to play with. Did you have to cut your bumper again?
Cheers.
Hi all,
Pearl Black 172, used to clean my 182 quite a bit and have quite a few polishes and gear etc., never used a DA though.
Once its back on the road im looking to do a 'deep' clean and protect.
2 BM wash with something to strip all the crap, all purpose cleaner? Fairy liquid?
Bug and tar...
Seconded on replacing bushes etc., even with standard. Mine was a noticeable difference on my 182 (poly) and my 172 has had them all done recently and feels very tight.
Other improvement I found was braided hoses and new fluid.
Looks excellent mate.
Just a quick one, when you fitted your stiff shift how did you remove the old assembly with the gear knob intact? I have removed the circlip underneath but cant fit it through the gap.
Cheers.
After masticing the whole house, I found a bowl of water and wetting the credit card helped to smooth it, im quite happy really it looks almost factory. If it doesnt work I will go for a Prima mount. I had the sealant anyway so hasnt cost anything.
Tried the powerflex bushes and they constantly...
