Sell your car and doing some kind of 'advanced' driving course :S
Other than that... just replace discs and pads for new OE if they need doing, get your fluid changed (very cheap...) and consider braided hoses if you really fancy spending some cash as I can't see they'll be anymore expensive...
So... the Rear caLLipers arrived! Double capital L because that's the British spelling apparently! Anyhow, I've been looking forward to these in that semi-anxious way. A little bit like your first roll in the hay, you know it's going to be good, but you're not quite sure what the f**k you're...
Will be doing the rears soon, probably start cleaning them next week if they arrive as I've gone for cheap crap condition ones of ebay to refurb again. Aesthetically poor, but fully working according to seller, so hopefully that's true. I gather the rears have the added bonus of the handbrake...
Cheers for saying that - I was a bit worried people maybe found them boring. One thing I've both appreciated and enjoyed in other threads myself is the detail. I've found it either really interesting or when searching old posts for information, really helpful.
Another reason for the detail is...
Cheers guys!
Determined to stick with it despite the (more recently) mostly downs. Frankly, I bought a lemon. Rather than sit around with a sour look on my face though I hope to restore it as far as I am capable of and as far as the finances will let me. The car is now as much of an...
New seals, bleed nipples, dust covers, slider boots and two shiney new pistons!
Calipers got another lick of paint..
Took the bushes back out of these and gave the brackets a quick scrub. Not overly concerned if the finish on these isn't exception, for obvious reasons.
Then I got rained...
Well, lets try and get some of these photos off my phone and onto a thread!
A few bits and bobs arrived before the car went to Dan@SJM.
Bits and Bobs:
I fitted the Powerflex rear shock top mounts straight away, really nothing to see there.. but here they are sat in the box! Not sure why I...
Aye, my speakers will be uprated all round to a nominal/RMS power of 35w, so the 45w the amp pumps out should be substantial enough to make use of them fully without being over-worked and they should be better than the OE Renault ones I think!
Replacing tweeters really needs the dash lifted off imo. I tried it by removing tweeter grills and dropping through the top, it worked but I filed down the plastic edges of the tweeter to squeeze them in. This was with Pioneer TS-Q131C's as well, which are 'direct fit'. I was a) lazy, b) knew...
Was the KTP-445A enough for you? I just want a fuller sound without distortion. I don't want insanely loud or anything, I just want to be able to 'feel' the music a bit more. Sounds sad I know lol. On my home system some/most of my music sounds completely different because the mid range and bass...
Pure motorspot do an AC delete kit, but it's probably on the dearer side of things. Cheaper option is probably nabbing parts of a 172 cup, but I don't know exactly what bits you'd need, other than a different aux belt.
I think you're right; I hope you're right! It's less weight, less money and I think, should sit at about the power I'm looking for! I'm going to go for exactly what you've listed here. I'd already decided on that sub and I already have the Pioneer components, but the power pack I have to admit...
^ No they're not.
Jack the engine up with a bit of wood on sump/box to spread the load, undo the bolts on top engine mount, replace, lower into place (might need someone to hold engine toward front of car here) and tighten bolts up again.
Can't remember all specifics for upper gearbox but it...
Fatboymal, I'd say don't waste your time trying to keep the OE head unit and get any improvement, from all the questions I've asked in a lot of places and all the stuff I've read (whilst trying to achieve the same thing) it's just not going to happen!
I've got the Connects2 box for aux input...
Goodj,
I'll be trying out the current speakers running off the head unit first, but if they don't cut it then I've decided not to faff around I'll just bite the bullet and use a proper amp/updated components. From what I've read and with the Clio being so small (and hardly, if ever having...
I'm not sure on the USB setup at the moment. In an ideal world, I'd permanently have a solid state memory device connected in the glove box, but then also have easy connectivity (including charging) for the phone. There's only one USB on the back so that would get complex. I think in the long...
Knee sport IMO swap for other springs that go lower if that's what you want. If you cut the springs you will probably never manage to sell them if you're honest.
