When I timed my Cup with a sympathetic start and gear changes that won't kill anything I got a 6.7 0-60 and 15.3 quarter at 90 something mph using one of those Vbox things. If that's any help. To get Renaults brochure claim of 400m in 14.8 you'd have to be quite brutal with the controls on a...
If he doesn't mind borrow the leads as well. A but more faff but could save some time and effort. Depends on how happy he is for you to pull bits off his Clio. He could try your bits as well to see if you can recreate the fault on his car with your bits.
If I buy non genuine parts I try to buy...
Bad timing can cause a bigger kick.
As for the injectors easiest thing I guess is to pick up a second-hand set or one new one and swap one at a time or put the whole spare set on and see if there is any different. That is if you can't afford a new set. Someone recently found they only need to...
Sounds very similar to the symptoms I used to get from uprated cams in older cars. I would suspect timing unless you have reason not to.
They aren't great from stone cold anyway but mine never feels like it's missing or bunny hops. Again symptoms I've had with old school tuning.
Your dephaser...
I paid over the odds for my Cup which is hardly immaculate simply because it had had 2 grand spent on it by the previous owner which included all the usual suspects being done properly.
Gnats c**k of play in the dephaser and it needs replacing. The inside of a knackered dephaser usually has bits of metal missing where the vanes are located. Those bits can then be floating around your engine. An engine flush is wise if a dephaser is worn.
If the dephaser has zero play and the...
Decent coil overs are expensive and then your bolting them to old suspension components unless your lucky to have a refreshed car. The refresh, cup dampers and cooksport or eibach springs is a very good and cost effective alternative.
172's and 182's are fairly interchangeable. If both are 100% fit the 182 is quicker but not so that you'd notice in daily driving and with mass production involved a huge gap in performance is unlikely. The only real advantage to the 182 is the cup packs where you can get a more aggressive setup...
1.3 became the 1.4 when the 1.6 became lean burn. Around '86 I had a hemi mk2 XR2 with a DFT carb and a later lean burn with the vacuum second choke carb. Saw plenty of mixing and matching from Ford while I was in the XROC so you can never be completely sure what you've got. Saw a few hemi 1.6's...
Brembo HC discs and some decent pads and all's good. If you want more. I don't have any trouble with the standard setup (repeated 100-30mph stops over a 15-20 min session and it copes well enough) on my cup on track days so maybe yours needs a little work?
Standard Cup is also tailpipe free...
Joints can wear in weird ways. Remember your a puny human and cars have big forces going on so give everything a good move and if safe to do so try a bit of leverage. When I check side to side movement at home I stick a foot on each side of the wheel while Sat on the floor and give it a give...
If you don't have camber bolts and they measured right then lower arm bushes as well as the above maybe be worth a look as something is allowing the wheels to sit at more of an angle.
If it's as bad as you say I'd expect to be able to move the wheel by grabbing it top and bottom and giving it a...
Something must be moving to cause a sudden change in steering angle like that.
My XR2 used to change lanes under braking because a tie rod Bush had disappeared through age.
Looked fine? Did they investigate further? A suspension component must be well worn.
My 106 diesel did a similar thing...
Pretty sure it's only under best power situations you'd get pants fuel consumption if it ignored the lambda all the time.
If you uploaded a map file you can't map it wrong. It either loads, doesn't or bricks your ECU. Loaded a map to my 206 diesel in a similar way. Although a hike of 50lbs/ft...
If you enjoy those aspects of car ownership maybe the 197 is the wrong car? It's an improvement on the previous Clio in terms of build quality but it's not German type motoring.
Bummer and no matter what it will be assumed you were driving like a 'tard by the public because of the car.
Lesson learned though. Blinds bends are a total sod. I've had a few close shaves and I have been told I drive like an old woman down lanes these days unless I know the lane and it's...
Yep. It was struggling when I was in it. I tried to be a rep for a while but didn't really have the time to commit so I was pants at it. I had 2 MK2 XR2's. I'll be in a blue 172 cup if nothing comes up work wise. Trying to get some LGV2 work now I've passed my test.
Been on here years and if I'm able to come I'll be in the same boat! Was in XROC a while ago so it'll be interesting to see if car clubs have actually changed as time has moved on.
I think the 197's will be looked at very differently when they are down round 1*2 money.
The only thing against them is weight and they still aren't that lardy and losing that crisp packet feel that some like me actually like. A step forward in every other way.
