I use both, desktop most of the time but you cant sit on the bog and look at p**n with a tower case and 2 tft monitors. I find the laptop handy as well if the fun police is watching corrie or some such shite.
If you get a digital cordless some scrote with a scanner cant listen to your calls, the old analogue ones can be picked up from quite a distance with the right gear.

I use Tom Tom One, no problem at all with the 182 windscreen, with regard to a mac if you connect it via usb on a pc (havent tried it with the imac yet - but i can if you really need to know if its the same) it just appears as an external drive and is drag and drop, couldn't be simpler.
