    New Car - First Car

FUQ! Have you already crashed several times whilst speeding away from police? I mean, Preston, yes, that's an extra £500 before we even get started but......jeez, thats exceptional.

    New Car - First Car

Typically car history makes absolutely zero impact on insurance prices. at 18, it cost £1500 to insure a 1.5 (no turbo) diesel Corsa. And that was in a sleepy village where the last crime occurred in 1823. Still, with maximum NCB (5yrs earned through aforementioned diesel Corsa, pulling 50mpg)...

Cheapest cat pipe/sports cat pipe available? Need MOT!

That just killed it for me, sorry fella.

    New Car - First Car

I was thinking EXACTLY that. Yes. But kids will be kids, they still reckon the route to a girls sausage-wallet is by setting lap times in Halfords Good lad, be careful out there. I hated driving around that part of the world. Too many tractors, lorries, caravans and single-carriage trunk roads

    New Car - First Car

AHA! Well, that would certainly help, yes. Now, just font go tooling about like a wannabe Paul Walker, because the Lincs traffic police like nothing more than finding kids in chavvy motors and splatting them with massive points, fines and bans

    New Car - First Car

Errrrr. Did you take a mortgage out for the insurance on this one?

    tiny pin hole in cat?

Kwik fit can fit tyres and brakes (in fact, if they're still doing lifetime brake pads, that's worth it on a non-track car)] Other than that, try anywhere else. Where abouts are you fella, might be able to find you a local CS member who's also a mechanic. Certainly going to be usefull when your...

Cheapest cat pipe/sports cat pipe available? Need MOT!

why selling it, out of interest? (and does it have cruise control?)

I want to make a folder full of pictures on a computer...

I guess it comes down to how many photos we're actually talking about, and what size of files. If "lots" is actually "400, all taken on an iPhone 3gs" then yeah, Dropbox. if actually "25,000, taken on 23547896mp DSLR" then NAS. Also, Dropbox will fill the hard drive of ALL devices that use it...

I want to make a folder full of pictures on a computer...

at £7.99 per month for a decent storage allowance? I'd still rather the NAS option, after a year they cost roughly the same anyway.

Worth waiting a couple of months longer...

OP, you realise that you'd be spending the worth of the car every year? For a shopping trolley with an oversized engine? It's going to cost you significantly more to run than your Corsa, the insurance is just one factor. Sure, you're probably about to say how #yolo and that living at home...

I want to make a folder full of pictures on a computer...

I may be reading this wrong, but I've read it 5 times now. You want a folder full of pictures, on your work PC, and want to access them anywhere, anytime? Or just on the work PC If work PC - create new folder on C: (or anywhere else convenient) email images from phone to own email, download...

    1.2 subframe on a 172...and steering problems

Ah yes, sorry, being dim. You've already got the frame in place and etc. Hmmmm, Well, if you can rig it without pulling the car apart, superb, but be ready for excess swearing
  14. G

Is this ugly weld from an accident ?

Downforce? Welding is substandard, car shouldn't have passed MOT, M3

    1.2 subframe on a 172...and steering problems

I appreciate it may because you happen to have one to hand...but why jury-rig a 1.2 subframe into place when you could probably get a 172 frame for not that much from a breakers. Also, found this http://www.cliosport.net/threads/1-2-and-172-subframes-the-same.638832/

Yep, RDR Camping is confirmed as an actual thing again this year. :)

    Epic sums this up

I should like everything it stands for. But, in the pictures at least, looks hella bent and far too try-hard. Has Fast Car sponsored it?

    Mid engine Hyundai Veloster.

Wont be long before Kia / Hyundai have a crack at F1. They sell enough cars (more than Renault by now?) and if they keep trying to up-sport their image (Kia GT, the Veloster etc.) then surely it's one of their next steps. Sure, they're already in Rallying and Ice racing, what of it

    not a good start

Chocolate gearboxes are one of the primary reasons I probably wont have another Clio. Even one that looks as tasty as that :)

Excess insurance, right up there with volcano insurance.

Cheap summer project (mk1 MX5 content)

Yep, get the brakes from a mk2.5 1.8 and, as much as it's not like wrapping your rotors in Wilwood metal, you will stop better. @Scrooge can confirm that the "Big brakes" can get an MX5 to pull some heavy braking G ;)

Cheap summer project (mk1 MX5 content)

You say that as if it's not 100% the case for every post I make. ;) Of course, many are correct, just not popular. I'll have a Dig about and see if I've got any Mk.1 compatible parts you could find useful. Should have the Mazda "Big Brake" system lying around somewhere, calipers would need a...

Bloke reversed into my Trophy. What would you do?

One point which has only been skirted over. You can't reasonably expect the offender to front the entire cost of a respray on a panel which, as you said, wasn't exactly concourse fresh. It may be worse now than it was before, but it was still an 8yr old Clio with as many stone chips and scuffs...

Bloke reversed into my Trophy. What would you do?

That's a much better idea. Either it works or you end up claiming

Bloke reversed into my Trophy. What would you do?

Insurance claim, or accept it's an 8yr old car and thing like this will happen. Do a confused.com on what your insurance could be if you went down the claim route, it may not be as bad as you're expecting.

Looking for a cheap track car

Nobody yet to state the obvious? Mk.1 MX-5 Pick one up for about £700. Slap new tyres, discs pads and brake fluid in (about £400) and you're away. If you get an imported one it'll probably have a limited diff. in there too. No traction control, rear-drive, enough power to have you fish-tailing...

Cheap summer project (mk1 MX5 content)

Good work. RE: new body panels. Since you're looking at 15yr old parts, they'll mostly be fading to pink by now, a respray will probably be cheaper and more effective. Oh, and @JoeyD my Mk.Awesome doesn't come with chassis rail rust, just the sills and arches....just like every other MX5. ;)

    New speakers for my decks...

Floorstanding wharfedales, I can't rate them highly enough. Diamond range last forever and will soak up some big amplifiers without issue
