NON Brand Name 1mm polycarbonate windows, self cut and fitted with 'Jack Screws'... Cost £40 all in
Purchased from local plastics supplier - look for perspex merchants etc...
This is now a savings thread...
I've had the correct part (Brand Name) discussion before as regards exhaust. Priced up the usual suspects for a system costing hundreds
(If memory serves me correctly I think it had a 2" square brand tag on it somewhere it would never be seen)
Anyway, had my own 2.5" custom built locally for...
I'll get a pic up later this evening, no problem.
As regards paying more for correct part, they're virtually identical. Some people just like brand names and bigger bills I guess.
I'll always take an engineering perspective over a brand name perspective.
If it's useful to just one person, job...
Hi All, Thought I'd post this up as I TOTALLY DESPISE 'Brand Name Rip Offs'
I used a 'Tow Bar Bumper Protector' as seen on eBay for a princly sum of £3.95 inc postage. (LINK BELOW)...
Steering column just takes a bit of cutting, handy enough. Make shift bolt from threaded bar with 2 nylocs will do.
Canister easy, anything else opens up a world of possibilities. I've found another 24k weight loss.
Thread resurrection...
There is a budget solution (I do like budget solutions), 1 tin paint (same colour as floor if you like), 1 bag sand. Mix sand into paint. Paint floor. Let dry. Instant grippy 3m like feel, colour coded to car, and cheap as chips too!!!
Hi all,
Having seen lots of engine bays of various 172/182's I have noticed that few seem to have the original fuel pressure regulator in place. Am I missing a trick here or could someone elaborate.
I have a Ph1 172 track only car. Many thanks in advance...
Totally different thoery time...
Sell Clio, buy imported starlet turbo (very quick), there was no UK equilivent so can insure as 1.3 which is cheap as chips.
Run for a year or 2 then with the insurance down buy a 172/182 and improve skills on track days!!!
Quick update. Just bought new 850mm gates 5v belt, jubikees and hose for £13.95. Together with £30 full cup alternator set up ive managed to remove all aircon, all pas and a s**t load of weight for a grand total of £43.95. Did i ever mention I hate getting ripped of by brand names?
Well under way Mark. Managed to rape a student on gumtree and get a cup alternator set up COMPLETE for £30 including P&P. Didn't know what it was worth. So, PAS gone, butchered aircon unit gone, associated bracketry gone, pipework gone, reservoir gone, wiper motor and arms gone, rack getting...
Cheers buddy. Appreciate that. This'll be a very quick winter project then!!! I'll need to think of something else... Think I'm suffering from AutoAnorexia...
Hi bud, just doing this job over next few nights. Can you confirm i need 2x m12 x 1.0 blanks as i cant find any.
Also, can the loop be done with rubber hose and jubilee clios or must it be metal?
Many thanks
Hi All,
I've a Ph1 172 and my intention over the winter is to remove Aircon pump (rest of system already removed) & PAS system. I would run a cup alternator set up with shorter belt and have a 'looped' PAS rack.
I would appreciate feedback from anyone with a 'looped' rack as regards feel...
Appreciate the info buddy, I currently have aircon removed and just enough of pump left (basterdized) to run the belt. I'm thinking a cup alternator setup with aircon pump and pas system removed. Should be a nice little winter project leaving less weight on the nose...
They're just 'Jack Screws' pilfered from my brothers builders van!!!
Stickers etc are more for the benefit of my 13 year old who I'm trying to teach the tools to. I call the Clio 'Anti Playstation Device'!!!
Anywhere I can lose weight, particularly from the front is a bonus. Obviously there's an...
Cool, my intention was just to loop the rack, go manual and remove components. I'm determined to do a build on a ridiculously tight budget and my best friend so far has been my trusty angle grinder!!!
Here's the toy so far...
Hi there, I've a Ph1 172 also and have been thinking of removing PAS and just looping the rack.
Any advice or problems I should look for?
I imagine you have just looped it, blanked holes and removed the pump, reservoir, lines etc?
Any help or advice much appreciated, cheers...
Cheers bud. He mentioned you needed an engine, I have a spare if you still need one.
Wee motor so far has went well, needed an idle control valve but that's been it!
Great pics, must forward them to Keith.
Got that 'Idle Control Valve' yesterday, annoying really as it finished my day and took all of 30 seconds to fit!!!
Also might take a race up to Bishopscourt this Sunday to take a look at the Rallycross Revival 1st day (Not with Clio though). Looks...
