I'm in the process of doing the same to a 2008 Campus. A donor 172 is the best bet, means you have everything required.
I expected certain areas of wiring to be interchangeable (and they are in some instances, depending of the age of donor car vs the car youre building) but my 172 dash loom...
I did repair it but before I got to the stage of refitting, I bought another one that was in much better condition.
They're so prone to rust that if you're keeping the car, I'd look into some of the methods of protection mentioned above.
I'd 100% want to have a proper look over it. I found rot in mine.
Can see the rotten cut out piece in the second pic. Tbh, the car was on a 57 plate and was reasonably clean and tidy.
I've used epoxy mastic from bilt hamber for my Campus/172 build. Corrosion resistant and won't flake like a...
I have a similar take on it. It's a component that has a wear allowance, provided I don't go beyond the tolerances, I can't see an issue. It's machined or ground during manufacturing anyway.
Unless there is a specific reason not to do it, or that it can't be done because of the geometry etc...
Any specific reason? I'm not content to run the flywheel in its current state and I'd rather not fork out £300 on a replacement (unless absolutely necessary).
I suppose I'm asking is it worth a £30 gamble to machine it?
I'm in the process of reshelling a 172 and have come to the point of fitting a new clutch kit. The original flywheel mating face is in poor condition, fairly pitted etc.
I've had a search on here regarding this but can't find anything concrete. Can they be machined, do they have sufficient...
This is my concern, removing the blowers and AC from a original climate control car. I'm not sure I'll be able to run the povo/172 Cup blower unit as a replacement with a climate panel controlling the fan motor 😬.
I'm sure there will be some sort of work around.
Also a good point about the servicing. There's lots of chat out there about which oil to run, from what I have read, the 245 should run the 0w20 but some dealers out there seem to use 5w30 instead. I had some comms with VW in Perth regarding this and they were insistent on 5w30. Bit of a...
I had wheel bearing issues when I test drove mine. Usual howling noise at 70ish, and obviously the garage didn't bother test driving it and then told me there was nothing wrong lol. It got fixed in the end. Worth noting that the car was only on 24k miles and 3.5 years old, fairly premature...
I'm currently building a 2008 Campus with 172 running gear and planning to run EPAS rather than the hydro setup.
The Campus obviously comes with an EPAS rack and column, but the more I search on here, the more results I find with reference to DCi racks.
Can anyone confirm either why DCi racks...
A FF car will have climate control. Looking at the Renault wiring diagrams; the climate interior loom is different from the manual AC/basic heating loom. If you have a 182Cup, your loom will be the same as a non-AC car and therefore the swap is straight forward.
I'm trying to figure a work...
Good result! It's mad when you think that one little link rod is stopping the whole hub from flapping about in relation to the wishbone!
Hope I don't have to do the balljoint ever. They look like sh!te fun.
My Megane 250 was stuttering for a very short period of time after a cold start. Would rectify itself after a minute or so of driving. Fresh set of Beru coils sorted it. They were about £13 a coil last time I checked.
As above, fresh plugs to start, then coils. Half an hours work for the lot.
3rd and 4th synchros swapped, new bearing on, just waiting on a new locking bolt arriving.
Home made tool for driving the shift fork roll pin in. Hopefully it works 😬
This story seems to be popping up on the Facebook clubs. The guy says he's had some base diagnostics carried out locally in agreement with Supreme Motorsport but was looking for more involvement from Supreme as the diagnostics didn't shed any light. This is when the sale became a "private sale"...
So basically they're good enough with CAD to manufacture a swish CNC bracket for a supercharger..... and that's where its stops.
Thats a joke. Take them to the cleaners. Best of luck.
It certainly looked the part. You'd think it would be tried and tested considering it was plastered with "Supreme Motorsport".
I'd be raging if I found a dodgy history online and then the builder/OP denies the issues ... 🤨
