    Throttle body kit, where/who from?

As good as the GEN90 is its quite an expensive ECU, great for a road car where it is plug and play or if you are happy with keeping the standard dash etc in the Cup racer. But the dash in the Cup racers are very limited, they are not back lit so cannot see it at night. Has no speedo function and...

    Throttle body kit, where/who from?

I was looking at this on K-tec's FB page last week, the only problem is it looks like my engine loom has gone faulty so i need a new loom as well which is why i thought go omex/dta. What bore are the DTH's 45 or 48mm? Cheers

    Throttle body kit, where/who from?

Need some advice on where to go for a throttle body kit for my cup racer. I want Jenvey taper throttle bodies, engine loom and something like omex/dta for the ECU. Will probably be looking at some sort of digi dash too as i think the cup racer dash is very locked down. It will need to come with...

    Hi Comp pistons without remap

Very interesting regarding the Gen90. pretty trick what Ktec have done getting everything to work. But I was just going to chop the plug off my engine loom and wire in a DTA S60 when I eventually do go that route, probably with a different dash to as the cup racer one has limited features and no...

    Hi Comp pistons without remap

Surely the ECU will compensate to a certain extent if the lambda isn't seeing the right AFR?

    Hi Comp pistons without remap

Looks like i will just be fitting the head on a standard bottom end then, i take it the ported head will be fine with the standard map? Cheers for the advice guys.

    Hi Comp pistons without remap

I need to build a new engine for my cup racer due to the engine failing last month. Im going to have a head built by CNC heads with 1 piece valves, I also want to fit forged rods and pistons with a 12.6:1 CR. But i cant stretch to a new ECU and ITB's at current so the idea is to run with...

Brake fluid for track days that isnt Super Blue?

The thing is it will mix in the resivoir anyway so its going to be hard to tell when the new fluid is going through, by the time it starts running clear you will have used the same if not more fluid as you would of used just pumping a good 250ml out each caliper.

aux belt issue! very close call, panicking slightly and need some advice :)

I just picked up a 172 with a very similar issue. Top bracket on the alternators had snapped causing the belt to loose tension and come off. Very weird.

Definitive answer to 172 vs. 172 Cup /182 castor difference?

These look like the ones the cup racer wishbones are made from with the outer ball joint hole in the middle, they have an offset bush welded in on the cup racers to give more castor but the cup wishbones i fitted actually give slightly more overall castor anyway. So IMO buying cup racer ones is...

    Pics of wrapped 1*2's please

Agreed, definitely suit blue's, silvers, black etc. Best colour IMO is metalic grey, really should have done them in that colour.

    Cooper JCW v 172 cup

They dont have thinner glass, ive got both ph1 ph2 and 172 cup windows here and they are all the same thickness. Fuel consumption is amazing though, my sister has a ph1 1.4 16v and both my 172 and Williams are both better on fuel. Must be due to the fact the 2.0 motor pulls the car with such ease.

    Drivers inner CV boot

Does anyone know the part number for the re-con shaft then? ill just go in and order it with the part number, if i go in and tell them to learn their job properly im less likely to get the 15% discount i normally get for being such a regular customer haha.

    Drivers inner CV boot

Went a spoke to Renault today and they said they cant do a recon shaft due to them not fitting sports properly? something to do with one of the holes not lining up.. Quoted me £216 for a brandnew shaft.

Dont really fancy putting a 100k+ breakers shaft on my 40k clio or forking out...

New valve guides with new valves?

Well at £400 a set for 1 piece jobbies im just going to get them. Its the price of a replacement second hand engine so in the long run should pay off, just my luck it will happen again otherwise.

New valve guides with new valves?

Definitely dont want that happening, my last engine died from valve failure. Such a s**t design, 2 piece valves wtf!?!?

New valve guides with new valves?

Its a fully running motor so im guessing they will be fine, may aswell speak to the place thats going to do the head i suppose.

New valve guides with new valves?

Looking at getting 1 piece valves for my new engine, but will i need to replace the valve guides when fitting the new valves? the engine there going in is a PH1 motor that has covered 64k. Valve seats will be getting recut as part of the porting job.

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

How much are you wanting for it?
  22. mikekean

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

Ah ok i see what you are saying regarding pulley sizes, Id rather have more midrange than top end so be able to adjust that via the pulley size would be a benifit. Now the next question is what management do i go for? going to need something i can get a decentish base map for to do some testing...

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

All sounds pretty good, cheers for the info guys. Just need to try and work out how much of an effect having the restrictor that close will make. I want to see 6psi boost minimum really for it to be worthwhile 240-250hp would be plenty due to the extra torque, coupled to a sequential with only...

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

Id be limited to whatever boost the charger will make with the 34mm restrictor in place, unless you can fit a smaller pulley also? Was more just a query to see if standard pistons would be ok at 6-7 psi, been as i dont intend on changing the compression ratio would be a bit of a waste to fit...

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

Cheers for all the help, Would standard pistons be ok at 6psi? if its a bit border line then id go forged but if its not necessary then ill just put new rings in.
  26. mikekean

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

Its not so much that it stores air, i thinks its more to do with the air doesnt have enough room to straighten out before it hits the compressor wheel so its effectivley not making use of the whole blade on the turbine. If i could run 6psi and around 250hp that would be exactly what im looking...
  27. mikekean

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

From what ive been reading the closer it sits the more it restricts flow to the compressor so with a 34mm one sitting 50mm away its probably going to be running a bit down on boost compared to the setup your car runs. With about 6psi on a standard engine what sort of power would i be looking at...

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

Cheers for the reply, well I'd be having an FIA 34mm restrictor fitted to it which sits 50mm away from the compressor wheel. Does having the restrictor closer effect boost pressure more?
  29. mikekean

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

Would be restricting the air going into the charger, like they do on turbo'd rally cars.

    Rotrex restrictor sizes

Does anyone know what size restrictors the Rotrex clio setups use? obviously i know different boost setups use different sizes so say a 6-7 psi setup. Cheers Mike
