Cruise control wire has been snapped cut off - it's should be next to the other 2 black thick plastic coated wires.
And yes you need a new squib with all 4 wires attached.
A few options like you say.
Take rear bases out and fold rear seats down and they will fit in.
I have had a full set in mine and they do fit.
And yes the airbag light will come on unless you stick a resistor in but for the sake of getting home does it really matter.

As long as you fit the resistors into the airbag orange and green airbag plugs all your lights will stay off.
Be careful with the steering wheel angle sensor - makes sure it's all lines up and the bubble indicator remains yellow. Otherwise this will illuminate the traction and service...
A good starting point is finding out which part of the airbag system is at fault - find somebody locally with clip to pinpoint the issue. Could be a very simple solution once known otherwise you could be messing about with wiring for ages.
