sounds like u dont do many miles in it so i reckon corroded discs is pretty normal. mind u without abs u dont really want to be slamming the brakes on to try and clean them! :o
apologies for my extreeeeeeeeme lack of knowledge :quiet:
i have noticed some clios seem to have body-coloured caps over their fog-lamps? or is that merely a substitute for those cars which do not have fog lamps? just wondering cos they are usually the first thing to break, so if i could...
leak seems likely. i didnt realise my fuel tank was falling to bits until i got under and looked at it... have u noticed a slight odor of petrol around the tank? i'm guessing by the pic that ur car is pretty old, my M reg rover fuel tank disintegrated a couple of years ago and had to be replaced...
some may have multiple contacts which promise better performance, in my experience tho its best to keep it simple. i tried a set which had 4 contacts on each and they ended up being changed out by an AA bloke for some single-contact ngk ones! i tend to stick to champion ;)
i've used mytyres a couple of times but they're not always cheapest, it pays to shop around. by the looks of it if ur getting 4 tyres for the price of 3 then i doubt ur going to get a better deal anywhere else!?
it does slightly worry me still. another reg i put in wasnt even recognised. but maybe they'd had private plates on before? all this would come out in an hpi check wouldnt it? i mean the dealers say they're hpi clear but can i really trust them or should i have it done independently?
it has headlamp washers, not sure about zeons tho. hmm! can u tell from this pic?! lol

thats what i thought. also its a darker (navy) blue colour which makes me slightly more convinced that its not a cup and the database is wrong. lol. am i right in thinking that CB1 means cup and CB0 means ff172 ? also will the insurance people believe me if i have to tell them its not a cup?!
cups with a/c....
what about cups with abs? i was looking at a 172 on fri which the guy insists has abs, but when i put the reg plate in for an insurance quote it came back saying the car is a cup version. is it possible the dvla have got it wrong? i guess i can check the codes inside the...
erm, well i would have said that one with the pointy lights is a mk3 but perhaps i'm wrong and its actually a mk2 ph2, even tho it looks completely different  ?

i'm never very sure what ppl are on about with all the...
not entirely relevant but i've just been out in a mk2 and then a mk3 172 and i gotta say i much prefer the mk3 it just feels a lot more refined and cohesive, and the steering wheel is not so flimsy!! i like the rubber grippy bits :D
i think prices generally have slumped at the mo, i'm looking at two ff 172's in the bristol area that are under £7k with <20k on the clock! shame they both have the horrible std "alloys" on :( but they are blue!
nice one! man i was looking for that article ages ago and couldnt find it... :D
however, they only tested a basic clio, not the beefed up ones, which may benefit from an extra few bhp, if one really needed it!?
well u could get bogged down in the specs of it all, but to me its pretty simple. if u dont care about abs & air-con then get a cup. saying that the cup wheels are a million times nicer than the standard ones :barf: its the first thing i will change if i end up with one like that!
well i've managed to get 172k out of my rover, still with its original clutch, gbox & engine bits. make of that what u will! ;)
i dont really wanna go down the diesel/jap route as i will have a company car foisted on me in a couple of years that will tick all those boxes... in the meantime i...
thanks ppl. i'm kinda hoping that if i buy something thats already done around 40k, the biggest problems will have already been dealt with and then i will only have minor stuff bothering me. i dont generally drive THAT hard so hopefully i would have that in my favour!?
i sat in one this...
