Weather dependant, this car will be at the RUK Nationals @ Gaydon on the 5th May :), shortly (after the event) ill be updating this pictures with the finished car.......
Get some pictures up mate, a cheap respray is always risky on something with rust or other serious defects, hope it turns out ok once its detailed, its how long it lasts thats the key point, most paint finishes that are poor can be detailed to a half decent standard.....aslong as the paint...
Factory paint job? or has it been custom sprayed? you'll need to wet sand it to do it half quickly, so id be wanting a paint depth guage myself or having knowledge of the paint job.
I had a 20% imbalance on my clio due to a stuck piston, if your on a flat straight road, let go of the wheel and press the brake from ~40-50mph firmly, it will pull you one way for sure if its off. Mine was noticable on heavy braking only.......
The caliper can probably be saved but they arent...
Drop us some pictures aswell if you want sales@spray-shack.co.uk, we have ALL 6 shades of monaco blue in stock, make sure whoever you take it to checks for the best shade unless you a massive blending effort and too much paint on your car.
Dude im really sorry to hear about the above, absolutely disgusting, sounds like a hell of alot of works been done that really should never have been touched, covering up a poor paint mix etc. I really wish you had considered us for this, we would of sent you the parts brand new.....sprayed in...
I wouldnt even try and match them yourself, and i wouldnt rattle can them as the finish will be leaps and bounds worse than the wheels probably. Go to a professional paint place, get them to match the colour, send us the paint in a wee tin with the center caps and we'll do them for you for not...
Aslong as its fully synthetic it will be fine. 5w - 40 will be better for warmer conditions, 10w is thicker to start with thus doesnt get to places around the engine as quickly as 5w-40, but it all depends on temperature.
If it was a 172/182 id run it on 5w-40 fully synth myself.....
If thats platinum silver 632, then there are quite a few shades of that colour.....but its most likely the poor mix in the can or not enough paint on the job. 2bh in the pictures it doesnt look too bad, just not glossy enough.
Hi Chaps, speaking from experience id be VERY careful with DIY spraying and 2K paints......you need an air fed mask which unfortunately will need 10+cfm on its own, which means you probably need atleast 25cfm out your compressor, to do it safely.
Now, what are the dangers....well industrial...
We do alot in 205-110, we've done numerous center caps that get matched back to origonal 205-110 wheels and its been spot on, we use a proper IXELL supplier rather than having anouther supplier try and match it.
Technically you probably can match it in vinyl, digital printing these days is amazing and you'll need to use the right company for the job. Obviously id paint it, or wrap the whole car, but wrapping does chip like anything else, i dont know many finishes that will be unmarked after a brick...
So your saying £300 - £60 VAT = £240 - minus paint / material costs of ~20-30% - labour to remove / refit the lot, time costs to fill spray , booth time, oven time, general business overheads (lighting, heating etc, rates, rent) - 20% tax on profits, the numbers dont stack up if your running a...
You have mail :) We also have a set in stock of side strips for £105 delivered to you door any colour you want. This is a 1 off, as we dont normally carry stock of the parts..........
Atleast £500+ full spray of wings, bonnet and bumper, thats what id quote and it will depend on colour and what the condition is like. You'll get what you pay for generally, there is absolutely no such thing as a "cheap" job in spray painting, just a "poor" job for less £.
Sorry i havent been around much chaps, been hectic!. We have been having our booth / ducting upgraded so we can get bigger cars in now. We are doing more and more bigger parts these days, so it makes sense.
Update will be along shortly, but my cars been on the back burner under a plastic...
You pull back the head liner from inside the car, take out the TONS of bolts that are a total arse to get out, then you take the whole thing out, clear all the drains, reseal around it and screw it back. I did ours in 2 hours on the mrs's car, hasnt leaked since.
Cheers,
Si
