How do you tell if the new cams are seated right? Obviously the lobes are different so don't match where the followers are, do you just find where sits best closest to stock timing and the rocker will push them down? Then use re pulleys to set where correct timing is?
Looks like the same issue that 1*2s have. Usual fix is some sealant under the heads of the bolts and torqued back up.
If that didnt work then it is a rocker off + cambelt job
Filling it wouldnt be much of a problem though Jonny so it'd stop any leaks I think i'll probably build it all back up and fill that little bit with some sealant to make it level.
The car made good power and never been much of an issue so I'd have been non the wiser had I not changed the cams...
So started on the job of replacing the cambelt, dephaser pulley, stick in the new cams and re-paint the rocker cover which has started to crack because of the oil leak
So once I started stripping back the covers it became clear that oil was leaking all around the rocker cover, even in places...
Well as weird as it sounds my dephaser pulley has fixed itself. All gone quiet as a mouse I keep thinking I've stalled!
I didn't touch a thing either!
Got me thinking maybe something like an oil leak affecting pressure or a problem with the oil pump or phaser solenoid might cause the...
As sh*t as it is, as far as hutchie's technical knowledge goes- he knows his stuff
I'd be gutted, as i'm sure you are. Hopefully onto bigger and better things :) Fair play to you for taking it so well, i'd be cracking up
Absolutely everything mate!! Even the cams that have not been fitted yet (going in this weekend) Honestly the guys are great, very helpful and dont mind me taking a few pages of mods :rasp:
Lol dunno where I make time mate, its just done in little bursts across a loooooong time. I'm from Jordanstown mate, i'll blend in quite well then you'll hear me :rasp:
Crazy what difference a set of wheels and some lows make. I've passed it at shows with the old wheels and thought it was woeful, and at a recent show with the new ones its brilliant
Foam filter arrived yesterday evening mate, just waiting on a coupler and it'll be on in time for mapping. The green one was just sitting about the house as a stop gap.
As for plans after, i've 2 cage designs I need to make my mind up on. One will keep the use of the back doors and it'll be a...
I wouldn't say that at all tbh, I'm not even sure anyone is currently running socks! As far as measurements there s a formula to work out the air mass for filter size and the optimun intake runner length but given the hard work is done once, people just tend to replicate so no need to work it out
