Local dealer mentioned they have a customer who did a day at brands and it only reduced his 300 mile range by 20%
The pickup from standstill is brutal as its totally linear from the second you hit the power and just keeps going
Wife has to drive it hence second test drive
If you have experience of other volvos you will spot the more ford than volvo feel
The s60 and 80 are much better screwed together as are the newer stuff
The focus based cars never really cut it
The diesel was aweful my mates t5 isnt so bad but the fit and finish on both of the cars i have experience of is far from epic
The volvo built s60 is a different league
Reading your other post i would avoid the s40/v50 the v50 was the worst volvo i have owned and i hated it
Focus based and the focus its built on is better
The d5 s60 however is a fantastic barge
I have had 2 5cylinder diesels now 1 d5 and 1 d4
I test drove a p85d tesla 2 weeks ago as we are contemplating putting one through the business this had both insane and ludicrous modes which are 3.1 and 2.8 to 60
The car was as stunning as anything i have driven

Thise are the ones i have used for years , well regarded and used by loads of people
Not got any fitted in the clio or any other car at present as not tracking them
I dont disagree they can be done right but the extra effort isnt straight forward.
As for megasquirt , a huge world of pain
It really is shocking and as it can potentially distroy an engine i wouldnt go near
Then again i have maybe seen more try with it having been involved with westfields...
Agree totally
First thing after fitting shocks is full geo , then see how it behaves.
Then you can decide on how it feels and whats going on.
Working from an unknown base isnt an easy place to start
Tyre sidewall issues , loads of grip winding up the chassis which then loads and unloads the outside front tyre
Stiifer sidewalled tyres , more pressure would be 2 starters
However has the car been corner weighted
Is the hopping the same on left and right corners and what sort of speeds ;
She had an accident , its hardly the end of the world. Yeah she didnt do it on purpose and maybe needs to take more care but just go see a couple of bodyshops and get quotes for cash jobs
I scraped a bumper on the volvo this week , going to cost a couple of hundred quid , but hell s**t happens
Coilovers no matter what anyone claims will need rebuilding on a road car sooner than a standard strut
And that goes for 5k ohlins or 200 quid chinese copies
As for changing springs you van change springs for higher rates on any coilover out there faulkner springs sell every length and...
he gets scrap value for his scrap metal , he kept the small broken bit to show you as it would not significantly affect his scrap weigh in .
its completely fesable the scarap was collected today and he won't have had a broken bit of a cooksport spring laying about .

Fair play to you harry , its tough to sacrifice things but if you can and some do then good on you
But you still need a decent disposable income to afford it however you make that happen
i started at 11 and finally officially stopped at 43 , i am most likely not completely done yet just decided to pursue other interests for a bit and i am now racing boats :) without engines !!
Its pretty well respected as a stepping stone and finacially not far off Msa max racing to start with if you diy and get some half decent used kit
Then the costs start to escalate as you move up the grid
A half decent front running rotax max driver will be doing 12k a year minimum , and...
Really ?
You think so , as most grids on any given track will have some bloody quick rich people on , followed by some slightly slower wealthy people , and the rear brought up buy a group of slower doing ok in the finacial stakes
You will not find poor people in motorsport from karting to f1...
I wasn't counting club 100 which is a step above indoor corperate Karts , its very restricted in spec ,tyres so performance is way down but it is an afordable way to go racing .
however count up the cost of doing a tests day and an event which you should be doing at different tracks and looking...
and 9 times out of 10 , Joe bloggs plumbing emblazens its logos on his own car , or that of another family member ;)
plucking sponsership of any considerable amount from someone you have no relationship with thats fairly close in one way or another is pretty slim.
In which case move on to another hobby ....... 100% completely and utterly serious .
How does sponsership work at club level racing ?
All cars will bear the series sponsor logo's , this will be a championship requirement and gets you £0
any personal sponser you are basically asking someone to...
There are always questions about why and what here , this popped up on my facebook feed this morning and its actually very very good at helping understand diffs
