Had a new cat-back exhaust system fitted on Wednesday. Dear god its loud. Pictures and videos to follow shortly.
Yesterday I decided to strip down all the intake and manifold to get at the throttle bodies and give them a damn good clean.
Didnt get any before pictures but after a good caking...
Surprisingly well.
On all the cars ive owned ive only ever fit coilovers so wasnt sure what to expect from just springs.
I have to say the ride quality is pretty much unchanged, although the front drivers side spring had snapped pretty seriously so im guessing the standard ride was...
Really appreciate the kind words guys.
Might have to look at some 5 or 10mm spacers for the front.
There is a very slight occasional squealing noise when ive got all the windows down, which may well be the discs/pads as i know they are due a change at some point. Genuine discs and pads are...
Following the snapped spring on the front right, yesterday I got the new set of spax springs on.

I've only done a few miles since having them on but it looks like everything clears so far, although the rears are mighty tight!
I've just been outbid on a set of bilstein's with h&r springs that were on the bay. They went for too much in the end, so im continuing with my original plan.
That means these are hopefully getting fitted tomorrow depending on the weather:
Post fitting update to follow...
Im really impressed with the Kumho's so far, the car seems to ride slightly nicer than previously as well.
Oh and BTW, the decat wasnt enough - more noise is coming.
Couple of small updates ahead of a few more serious changes
The M knocked past 100k miles a few weeks ago
This roughly coincided with an Inspection I being due, so new fluids and a good check over revealed a cracked front spring (more on that in the near future) and a nail in the...
Couldnt agree more. Slight drop is lined up for the future to get it sitting right. At he moment it doesnt really look like a sports car imo, more of a coupe with a long bonnet.
Re the exhausts, ive seen the exdos modification but dont want to get into butchering original parts. There is an...
Well a bit of an update is due.
Perhaps most notably, a week or so back, a nice chap decided to reverse into me in the works car park. I was queuing to get out, he was to my right in a parking space and the bloke basically just backed out without bothering to look my way. Leant on the horn for...
Should be a kce-422i lead for their 'full speed' connection, but in theory on the x100's you can just plug in the nano to the USB port with your existing ipod pc cable.
Mental. That does seem to ring true to my own experiences though unfortunately. Some HU's seem to support both ancient and spanking new ipods, yet have a massive hole of compatability for anything inbetween.
Which unit is it?
Ha! Wonder where it was, had a really nice little blast out yesterday with the girlfriend up past grassington.
I saw you in the mental mini not long ago, it looks even more lunatic-spec in the flesh than in photos!
The Alpine units are notoriously tricky for getting Ipods to work. Is your...
As a quick update, I bought myself the spanking new sony CDX-DAB700U recently.
Sonys first foray into the DAB market from their current generation of units. It means i'm digital ready and as a nice bonus, the unit has a 36,000 colour display range, meaning i can match it to the e36's...
Had a couple of weeks off recently so managed to get a few bits done on the M.
First job was 2 new lamda sensors. The car was running fine but being close to 100k it was near the change interval so thought it wise. It took me forever to find the appropriate parts, from BMW they are a fortune...
Sounds VERY much like the starter exciter wire coming loose on the starter motor.
Had the exact same issue on my ph1.
There is a small wire with a spade connector that pushes onto terminal on the starter, these come loose over time so occasionally it will start, others not.
Take the exhaust...
