    182 crash

Personally I think that people who turn right across someones path and cause an accident should face the stiffest of penalties and maybe a ban or Jail. Its easy to say "oh well everyone makes mistakes or the odd slip of attention" but that isn't good enough when someone ends up dead or in a...

    182 crash

Definitely make sure the police do her for driving without due care. Keep chasing them up on this. People like that have to be taught a lesson before they do it to someone who is in a less safe car or on a bike. Meanwhile I am sure the Iranians will pay good money for the cloaking technology...

    buying privately

Normally I wouldn't touch a used car privately unless it was less than £1000 but if it has a years warranty left then ok. I got my Vectra SRi privately at 2 years old and never had any trouble. You can look for specific things on the car but also its the non specific things that count. You can...

    182 v civic type-r

Well no cos unfortunately they tend to be the fittest! It's only the fat ugly ones that ain't fussed about your motor cos lets face it they can't afford to be picky! I know with all the cars my mate and I have had it was the BMW 323 and the P1 that impressed them the most. The 182, CTR, V6...

    182 v civic type-r

A date? Why I'd go out in a BMW 318 with a tidy set of wheels of course or the BMW 323 my mate had before his CTR. If a bird chooses blokes based on cars I'd rather walk than take the Clio or Civic!

I wonder how reliable any depreciation figures are. I mean if you look at cars like BMW's and Golfs that are supposed to be good, how much do they really lose when you have to spend a load on optional extra's for a start and then your typical owner just px's it. I expect the official...

    wtf??

I assume he wasn't trying to steal them cos he wouldn't know what they are. Where the hell was his mother or father? Were they watching him do it? With all the weirdos around these days I can't believe people leave little on their own like that.

    182 v civic type-r

Of course owners are saying the car is worth 10k to 11k and the dealer is saying its worth 8k as a PX. What people buying a car have to consider is whether or not they are prepared to sell private at the end of it. I know many people that don't want to go through the aggro of having test...

    182 v civic type-r

On the subject of the gearbox, I think I have mentioned before that my mate met up with the person that bought his CTR (that he px'd with Honda for an S2k) and it turned out the gearbox went on it not long after he bought it - this on a car that had about 35k on the clock. I believe Honda paid...

Whats best for backing up the pc ??

USB2 external all the way. Never had any trouble, no drivers to install just plug in and away you go. Cheap as chips for masses of storage and quick too. Probably the best £100 I ever spent on accessories.

The depreciation thing is also a load of b*llocks too. Again there is nothing in it. The figures people quote are based on list price. What you need to look at is the value after 3 years compared to what people paid for the car. If you go on a full fat 182 costing £12500 compared to a CTR at...

    182 v civic type-r

If you pass a CTR or get passed by a CTR its all down to the driver or because one of you has a full tank of gas and 4 passengers. A 182 absolutely does not have the performance to drive past a CTR if both drivers are on the ball.

    182 v civic type-r

Yeah sorry what I mean't is that people talk about this non-stop and its all a load of boll*cks. On the 5th Gear test it was 0.2 of a second difference around an entire lap so what fricking difference is there going to be on a short strip of dual carriageway! NONE! I have raced a CTR against...

    182 v civic type-r

There absolutely is no difference worth talking about....and god has it been talked about. Go out, drive a proper fast car, then drive a CTR and 182 you will agree that they are both sh*t end of story!

My new 182 - first impressions

The torque steer is the best bit as it makes the driving more exciting and involving. I have driven quicker RWD and 4WD cars that feel slower and more boring because you just sit there with nothing to do.

    172 vs TVR....pmsl

Yeah that was it. I was out riding around running-in my bike. I saw one or two driving on local roads then saw them all in Blackhorse Shell Garage. Then twenty minutes later I saw them in the Willy Wicket pub carpark when I went to fill up in the Badminton Road Shell. Most of the TVR drivers...

    172 vs TVR....pmsl

TVR have laid off half their staff haven't they according to the news? Seems like they are in serious problems and their russian millionaire owner isn't that rich in car company terms.... There was a TVR meeting of some kind going on down my way on Easter Sunday (I think it was). They were all...

Part of my engine is loose!!

What bit do you work in bud? If I pop into the Minute do you reckon they could knock it up tight and would they have a spare engine cover screw sitting around somewhere?

Part of my engine is loose!!

Yeah thats cos I took the pic when I got the car! As you can see all the engine cover screws are present in that photo, the nobs at SJ Cooks lost the one on the bottom left of the picture! How could they leave something loose like that, how incompetent can you be?

Part of my engine is loose!!

My car was serviced at the end of Feb and I just raised the bonnet for the first time today :o On top of a screw being missing from the engine cover (w*nkers) I noticed a piece at the front of the engine is completely loose and rattling around!!! I can't work out how to do it up. I think...

    emissions light

Mine did the opposite. If I did lots of short journeys it would come on. The cure was to take out for a few long drives and get it really warmed up and spanked. Then it would go out. Since then I avoided short journeys by taking my car out for a long drive if I just drove a mile to the pub or...

    Are 182,s that badly built?

Luck of the draw. Sounds like you just got unlucky. My mate had a CTR that had a few things go wrong like the headlight and the head unit. He px'd it in the end but recently met up with the next owner who reported that the gearbox went and that was only at 45k miles. If that happens to a Honda...

    Traction Control question

I posted a thread about a similar problem a while back. My TC is hit and miss. Sometimes I can wheel spin the entire length of the high street in the wet with no warning light or anything and other times its cutting in when I pull out of a junction. Can't figure it out.

    2x 172 Cups, Bristol

I've seen a blue cup in sainsburys carpark too but can't remember which of those two plates it was. Last night I was followed by a black 182 down the ring road past sainsburys and he went past and onwards towards Downend. Anyone?

    182 or Fiesta ST

If you get the Fiesta I guarantee you will often think about the 182 and wonder what it would have been like if you had got one - especially if one goes past you on dual carraigeway etc. If you get the 182 I guarantee you won't spend even a second wondering "what if I'd got the Fiesta".

Am i doing the right thing

My rule of thumb is that I save up and pay cash unless: 1, the period of the loan does not exceed that of the warranty 2, I have fully comp insurance and can afford to reinsure the vehicle full comp if I have to make a claim End of.

2006 Budget Ouch for RS owners!

They could make the tax a Daewoo Matiz free and charge £500 a year for the 182 and I'd still drive it! Thats probably why he has done it. Lets face it there is no danger of us all saying sod it and buying little cars and Mr Brown losing all his tax revenue. He knows we would rather pay it than...

2006 Budget Ouch for RS owners!

At the end of the day boys if I offered to PAY YOU £100 a year to drive a 1.2 16v instead of your 172's/182's would you take it?!?! Nope thought not! Not sure how it encourages people to buy cleaner cars! If you can afford to run an X5 or something you ain't gonna give a monkeys about £100 a...
