Ditch it and get a 120D or a Civic ICDTI, after 40MPH both quicker than the Clio, better on fuel, cheaper to tax, insure, reliable and nicer to drive.
Debating on keeping mine now, just bored of the upkeep.
No it cannot be painted properly, I tried when changing my dials, it's actually glued to the black bit that it's attached to, any painting attempt will look proper pikey and end up a mess, or you'll snap it trying to remove it, you cannot get just the blue bit off, I actually had a silver one...
A New and GENUINE Cat fitting kit, a new clamp for the Olive join and some good sealant, a good temperament as it's a f**king b**ch to change at times, my cat bolts had melted and the decat pipes can be a touch longer than the cat so it's bit of a squeeze, to get the lamda out of the cat, unclip...
You still need to buy a wire adapter, it may come with it though, my Alpine did. if no wires supplied you'll just need the standard ISO connector to Renault thing, with that in mind you'll may as well spend the extra £20 on a patch lead and wire for steering controls and then have the battles of...
^ Not all cars use Olive Joins, not all will fit the manifold and clamping system that Renault use, that's bit of a shot in the dark there, length will also be an issue.
I bought one for my Astroid from Cats2u, Cheap and good quality. just make sure you contact them and ask what joins it has on it, for instance the Astra one they sent me came with a Male end, it needed to be Female so didn't fit, but when I called them back they collected it and sent me another...
All you can really do is find the rotten part / hole as it is, take the bolt out and put a larger washer over it and bolt it back on, pain in the arse all of mine are coming off one after the other.
OP just go an arms the seller and make him fess up as to why he let it go so cheap. Not sure about the log book loan though, If they cannot locate the car, which if it's changed to a different plate etc they will never get hold of it, the original seller will still get chased by the finance...
You might find like I did, the the bolt ends were melted, rotten and just generally fucked mate, they've been on for 9+ years exposed to the French Alps they will be in the worst condition ever.
But a finance agreement taken out in Jersey and then exported to the UK should be fine no? not sure if that agreement would be binding for them to take the car if it's in the UK now.
Ok so Ignore the fact bout the rubbers being shagged infact they are probably very good and the exhaust is too light, I had the same issue. just get a socket, something useless like a 5/8ths and cable tie it into the rubber above the mount, so it pushes it down nicely, make it nice and tight so...
Yes, the issue is the Scorpion Zorst ( assuming it's single back box ) same as mine is much lighter than the renault one so it doesn't weigh the rubbers down as much. what I did was cabletie a socket into the top part above the bolt to stretch it, after a week or so it will settle and be fine...
Import then, all imported RX7's have this too, works well after a while, the dials are an easy conversion. makes little difference though, and it has the Mazda Eunos Badge on the front which is non UK spec iirc, still very nice and doesn't change anything. Insurance might ask though.
