    New paint advice

I'd like a bit of advice regarding new paint & looking after it as my car cleaning/detailing skills/knowledge is limited to blast with snow foam, the wash mitt & 2 buckets method of washing, clay bar follwed up with super resin polish & extra gloss protection  I've just had the front...

A few questions - ITB related

I'd say yes as it's a case of fit & forget and be left with a problem that you'll never have to worry or think about again. As long as you fit a sandwich plate with a thermostat that is

A few questions - ITB related

If the oil gets too hot it basically gets too thin to do it's job properly so could potentially munch the engine. With a cooler and good quality oil you can essentially just forget about it, not have to worry & just keep hammering the car. I did just that on my 1st ever trackday, paranoid as...

A few questions - ITB related

It's the same with mk1's of the high comp itb'd variety, the VAG (not sure if it's a polo 1 though) rads people use don't seem to cope very well, they're fine with standard comp though. Just 1 of those annoying extra expenses when going for the silly spec engines :)

A few questions - ITB related

Having itb's on mine makes it easier to get at the filter but it's a mk1 with F7 engine, filter in the same place as an F4. Must just be a mk2 problem then lol!

A few questions - ITB related

Filter & backplate from Jenvey http://www.jenvey.co.uk/ I'm a bit stumped as to why you'd need to remove the bumper to change the oil filter tbh :S but the parts to relocate it are readily available from rallydesign http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=340

    Tax Disc holder, now what?

I've got to display a tax disc sized parking permit in my windscreen, the funny thing is that the permit shows that the tax on the parking space at work has been paid for so can't escape the b*****d tax part of it

There's only 1 thing I hate about this, after watching the 1st 5 episodes 1 after the other, the wait for the 6th annoyed the hell out of me & the wait for the next installment is killing me lol!

    Gone for some vtec y0!

I've been driving a gutless n/a volvo estate rammed full of tools & other assorted crap as my daily for a while so the mpg of the accord will be a treat  For me it's just about having something that's quite nice & civilised to use day to day but still interesting enough to have a bit of...

    Gone for some vtec y0!

I'm on the ring road near city hospital, can take you for a spin & show you what to look out for ;) If it's any help, I'd take one of these over a 172 without batting an eyelid, it's a much nicer car to be in imo & the diff makes such a massive difference

    Gone for some vtec y0!

I've been after 1 of these for a while now & this 1 came up for sale at a price I couldn't afford to say no to. Picked it up over the weekend & it has a few unusual goodies on it like a bose stereo & climate control from the type v, it's also got leather door cards, electric rear windows and...

R19 Turbo D dash cluster connection? little help

The cable will work fine as it's purely mechanical, the wires are basically just earths & mk1's are total pricks with idle issues from dodgy earth connections but with it being diesel I've got no idea if it will have an effect or not lol! Here's the back of some valver clocks

R19 Turbo D dash cluster connection? little help

I'll dig out a pic for you, the speedo wires cause idle problems on the valvers when they're busted/missing. The wires are actually on the speedo cable itself & plugs into the dash loom Can see the plug on the end of the cable here

    Something wrong?!?!?!

197 is bigger & heavier so cancels out the extra power to some extent, cam timing could be out on the 182

Another Mk1 coming out of the woodwork

Was an epic day at Combe, the changes made since Bedford have completely transformed the car, it was genuinely fast & I'm happy as a pig in s**t with it :approve: Things didn't quite go according to plan though Exhaust cam decided to seize up whilst going flat out around Folly - circa...

Small update, finally got the engine back in the car, fully mounted to the subframe & I'm genuinely impressed with how solidly it's in there :D With the addition of a carbon fibre bonnet, we've managed to get somewhere close to 40kg removed from the front of the car and do something about...
