the Aperture Value seems quit high at 4.97, other than that i can't see anything wrong. Could be the Expossure Compensation. make sure it's set at 0 , could be set to make the image darker than what it is
One the filters i use, they give off horrbile colour cast esp the Big Stopper and not so much on the ND4. Some times i get stuck on the white balance if there's no white or grey in the image. What do people do when this happens? I know you could use the sliders and go by eye. But it is nice to...
Not sure if this is all you need
Pentium E5300 duel core @2.60GHz 1800mz Processor
ASUS EAH6670 GFX Card
ACPI x86 based pc 32bit Gigabyte brand pc
it's a buildy up PC too, and i didn't build it.
@Aaron.. mentioned about using lightroom 4, My pc is a 32 bit, would be nice if i could use LR 4...
what i mean, they look a bit flat and dull. maybe i don't spend enough time on the editing. There isn't that many editing sliders compared to lightroom like, think it's like 65% less stuff than LR. I do spend just like 5 mins on editing, i just now when to back off and when it's been over...
It's bothering me for a while now, looking on other people's images and looking on mine. Mine just don't seem to have that colour punch, the richness in colours. Do you think it's my editing or just been on the 500D with it being what it is?
Awesome, just need to get out tonight with it being clear. It's a 45 min drive there to where i need to be. Might as well go out with it being clear and get some practice in and have a look around there see what's there and get some ideas and maybe next time get some better ones with it not...
@Aaron.. Will the almost full moon give off extra light in the sky as well as foreground? So doing a milky way shot at full moon isn't as good being a full moon?
I'm at penshaw momument now total clear sky. Try an few things here. There's a guy with a DSLR and there's a lot out there misserable f*****s and keep them to them selfs
I'll bear that in mind with the exposure Aaron.
Seven Sisters - Copt Hill by Mark Geddes, on Flickr
It wasn't the best tonight, very little colour coming through and the clouds just wasn't where i wanted them to be. Had to make do like, took another one i'll get that one up soon. Still don't know fully if my editing is right on my pics
I'm...
Another picture on TV by Mark Geddes, on Flickr
Another one of my pics was shown on ITV news and weather and shown on their website last Tuesday, didn't know again about it. 2 people at the shop saw my picture on tv and told me just the other day.
St Mary's Lighthouse - Whitley Bay by Mark Geddes, on Flickr
Would of like more clouds and a bit of water in the image but wrong conditions on the day plus it was an hour drive getting there. Had to get some pics anyway
Lens distortion is like when the image bends at the sides, like when you bend a piece of paper from both sides. Here's a video it gives you an idea what i mean
I've never used an external flash and practically never used my internal flash so can't really comment. What you don't want is too...
Yeah i was thinking possible lens distortion too or even vignetting? As Aaron said you can get rid of it in photoshop but on Elements you can't. If you haven't got a flash you could use a large reflector to redirect light where you want it. When doing interiors always use a tripod to get...

Here's 2 links to have a look at. Mike Browne channel is really good to know basic stuff on ISO, aperture and so on. The Scott Kelby channel is awesome only just found out about...
I had my DSLR for years and not knowing how to use it. I started a small class learning the very basics like ISO aperture and shutter. Then onto leading lines and composition and so on. Did this once a week for 3 months. This was just a local guy who's been doing this for years and it costed...
I've got the same camera but haven't got a super zoom just the 24-105mm, dredz wanted a zoom lens and he's got the 55-250mm and a few on here mentioned it. I haven't done motorsport and i think 55-250 will certainly get you going for the price just over £100 is a bargain...
very good Aaron, did you send them pics now and again through flickr and then contact you. or did they just contact you out of the blue? very nice pics like
I only shoot RAW now and edit only RAW. Just the other week my Dad wanted a few pics of the dog i just shot it in JPEG they not bothered and can't tell the difference on the editing side. As said if it's something not significant JPEG and if it's for my photography RAW all the way
Durham Cathedral Sunset by Mark Geddes, on Flickr
Took about 40 shots, different expsoures pretty much all short ones with the ND4 and without. Some vertcal with some branches and horiz without branches. Could get an awesome pic there but the branch on the very top is a bit of an eye soar not...
Burnt Field - Durham by Mark Geddes, on Flickr
took this while walking home after just finished taking pics of the sunset of the cathedral. I liked the burnt out bit and the track lines leading to the Cathedral and the sky was still lovely and not too dark too.
Alright, if you click on the picture it will take you to Flickr where it will show a bigger image. Yeah i took it in colour and it was majority blue sky but the little cloud just above and over the horizon. I used a CPL and a ND4 iirc, the colour isn't that spectacular that's why i converted to B&W
had to read that 3 times before i knew what you meant lol, yeah a photo within a photo. I'm tempted to go there again tomorrow, saw some really nice sand patterns today, i was there yesterday but at different tide. Was far too sunny to take pics of the sand even with a CPL.
I really need to...
I know from seeing Tony's style is in his B&W images top class by the way. I can't remember who mentioned it. I'm talking about "Styles" i think he's found his style. For me i haven't found it yet, i know i like my land and seascapes but may need more time before it kicks in. Do you come aware...
