I have a none genuine unipart item on mine, as it was the only one to hand when mine failed and i needed the car on the road asap.
Knocking on for 3 -4 yrs since it was fitted no problems as of yet. Got my monies worth out of it and will be changed to a genuine one come next aux...

Things maybe slightly different now since i wrote it but it does give you the general jist of things.
These engines do like to spit valves. Maybe the fueling was to much on the map which caused alot more heat in the valves??
chipmk1 is the man who will know if overfueling can help/cause excess heat which weakens components

Providing oil changes are kept on top of i can see a dephaser last an extremely long time...
It does not need changing at every belt service!

So it was mapped to pop etc and it didn'y work?
I know nothing about mapping but could the map that was put on /wrote be crap?? And now causing problems!
