    172 turns over for 3 seconds and dies......... no power at fuel pump or coil pack

    I had the same. I removed the relays in the fuse box in the engine bay. Cleaned and scraped the connections as some where green. Wd40 then refit. Has not come back since.

    Open bonnet and cable goes onto the side of it.

    As above soap and brush then jetwash them. They come out like new..! You can also undo the bolt that holds the belt to the body so you can get the bottom bit too.

    Mine did this but it was the big red cable going to the alternator had sheered off.

    Timing belt has been took out i would say. Check for the shredded part of the belt wrapped around the crank pulley..

    Electronic Throttle Control fault/Short-circuit (Fault Codes) ?

    Dirty throttle body and icv valve. Remove them and give a good clean with carb cleaner, thats the first thing i would try/do.
