No, heatsoak. It means the open filter will just suck in more hot air from the engine bay. Cold air is better than hot air for combustion.
Thus, an IK may make the car produce less power as the engine is taking in hot, less dense air.
Or just leave the car as it was, save £110 (especially if unemployed, Cliosport eh!) and avoid annoying everyone with stupid noise from your car.
Are you also planning an awful exhaust with no silencers by any chance? Or do you already have one?
The Richbrook ones have an integrated screw so the knob is placed on the stick and the screw tightened with an allen key. They fit beautifully but you MUST order a "lift reverse" one. Don't go by photos on websites as the photos are not always accurate, read the description to check it's for...
It might be worth trying to get someone with a paint depth gauge to take a reading to see if it has been painted before, which would pretty much confirm it.
Don't the cars have a 6-year paint warranty?
It's as a few people have stated, you tend to only see your car close up and without a sense of perspective.
When you see others, they are usually driving away from you and therefore look smaller/chunkier, or they are cornering with lean which again makes them appear lower, squatter and you will...
Simple and boring explanation for this. The front wings, mirror covers and roof gutter covers are all plastic and the paint adheres to them slightly differently to the other metal panels. That's all it is.
You should see them under bodyshop lighting!
Silver wheels on a black car, lovely. Nothing wrong with a wheel change if you hold on to the standard wheels.
However, putting cheap tyres on a new set of wheels for cost reasons is just bizarre.
Decent tyres can make a poor car seem good, poor tyres can make a brilliant car seem awful. I know...
OK, but why do you want to go so low? I genuinely don't get it.
I always thought it was to get rid of the arch gap which I understand and could be done without affecting the dynamics of the vehicle.
This is the bit that I can't understand. Surely the point in spending money on an older but highly regarded performance car should be to actually get the performance it was highly regarded for i.e. the original setup. Otherwise, you just have a Clio bodyshell with some random suspension on it...
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO. Why would you want to paint the wheels black? You'll lose all the detail in the wheel, there will be no contrast between the body and the wheels and it will look like you have no alloys at all or worse, hubcaps.
As for tints, again, why?
I try to resist posting on...
Re: A decent garage in surrey to help check and set up timing after cambelt change...
Do you know if he has the correct tools to set the timing? You should ask to see them. I think it is a "C" shaped tool.
Without them, it is unlikely it will be timed correctly even if any rattle or idle...
It is to do with the speed rating and possibly load index.
V tyres are rated to 150 mph.
W is a higher speed rating and probably load rating.
Renaultsport Clios are fine with a V rating. I believe that is what they are all fitted with from Renault.
You can use a higher speed rating, i.e. a...
Re: A decent garage in surrey to help check and set up timing after cambelt change...
Really? Which garage and who recommended them?
Surely no-one on here would have recommended a garage where a tech has said you can only adjust timing on an F4R with a laptop!
Tell your friend he has a very nice car and it is much better than yours. It will probably confuse him and he will then try to work out why you are saying that!
Then, find a copy of a decent performance mag featuring a Renaultsport Clio and tell him to have a read because that is why you have...
Err, no-one said don't service it. In fact, good servicing should be the only thing that the OP should spend money on.
Induction kits on the whole are a waste of money in my experience, except for the knowing that one has one.
I find performance panel filters a pain to be honest (don't even...
Save your money, in 6-12 months time, you'll probably be wanting a faster car. You'll then struggle to sell a modded 1.2 and lose all the money you spent on mods.
They look very good. Leave them this colour, turbines look good in this colour. Any darker and you'll lose detail in the wheel (such as the slotted pattern round the edges) and they will look like hubcaps!
Leave the centre caps on too - nice and clean.
I don't think the OP is intending to drive without insurance but I take the point. However, in the above case, the rest of us would be paying for it presumably under the MIB uninsured drivers scheme as he would be an uninsured driver!
