It's swings and roundabouts to be honest. At that price, what's the depreciation if it is sold in a year or two? It could be broken up and you lose a few hundred quid a year.
You'd lose that on a "perfect" one. What's bought now for £4K as perfect won't be worth £4K in 3 years time so it's...
Or thought that your post was about the likeness of "reading" and "Reading" rather than the misplaced comma in the title.
I got it though, and it was funny.
It depends whether it is deep enough to require a respray or how badly you want it dealt with.
Not sure where you're based but I have used a guy called Paul at Midlands Detailing (http://www.midlandsdetailing.co.uk/index.html) in/around Smethwick/Warley.
You could always call him/drive to him to...
Maybe try getting a detailer to look at it to see if they can use polishing compounds to remove it.
A bodyshop will want to respray it and likely blend into the panels next to it.
I believe it's very difficult (correct me if I'm wrong) to paint an aged panel and for it to match the panels next...
In addition, check the tyres. Not just for wear but the brand.
These cars only really work with quality sports tyres. Conti SC2 or Michelin PE2/PS3 would be a very good sign.
Check it against spec, is it standard height, suspension, wheels etc.
You can spend hundreds trying to get it back to...
Cambelt is every 5 years or 72,000 miles and the auxiliary belt should be changed at the same time. It is an involved job and this car should at least have had one, maybe approaching a second belt change if you are cautious and bearing in mind the mileage. The work needs to be receipted to get...
I doubt it was a pram, maybe a bike but frankly, if it is properly deep, it will be one of the horrid little monsters that we breed who go to school to make all the other kids' lives a pain.
Seeing as this thread has moved on to a debate about parking technique (fair enough), no-one has mentioned one of the biggest causes of this predicament - the growth in the size of cars. There are now many, many more cars (pretty much all 4x4s, medium/large saloons, MPVs) that you can barely...
Not sure I agree with this. If the dephaser is fine, why change it at 56,000 miles? I don't think the experts on here recommend it is changed unless it is rattly or has done mega miles.
The seller knows how the car has been used, it may well be a very clean car for its age and worth paying an...
Well the front bumper has the little black tabs still on it suggesting no big front ender.
See post 7, I reckon that's what's happened.
The reason I say that is the description still says Recaro seats suggesting the trader doesn't know the difference or is trying to pull a fast one.
If he...
No Recaros. This subject has done the rounds already I think.
The trader may actually have been "done" on this one in that it is probably a part-ex where the previous owner has moved the Recaros on before selling the car thus getting about £500 more for their trade-in.
I doubt the trader's...
There's only one way to deal with this, a Public Inquiry. Headed by the former Met Police Chief Sir Paul Stephenson to make sure it's independent.
To report by 2014.
Seriously though, it is ridiculous but some people have to live with this sort of thing every day of their lives.
I was thinking more of Charlie at ProSpeed, JP Exhausts (who make the Yozza), Hayward & Scott etc, not Powerflow! Hence the reference to getting a recommendation before using one.
Oak Tree Mitsubishi, "Ralliart" approved franchise. A couple of years back, I took my EVO VI there to get the head unit changed for an iPod compatible one amongst other (recall) work.
The "technician" told me that the existing head unit needed the keys that slide down the side to remove it and...
It depends. If you are after a different look, have you considered something like turbines from a phase 1 or similar? They may be a bit wider too and may look a bit different without looking wrong if you see what I mean.
Refurbing your original wheels is no bad thing and that alone can improve...
From what I have read on many forums over many years, I would recommend going to a recommended custom manufacturer that use TIG welding and get one made.
It should then be perfectly made, fitted and sound exactly how you want it.
It also means that if it is not, you know exactly who has made it...
TBH, this is absolutely spot on. I know it sounds like a telling off but this is usually people (like me) who've been through the learning curve and are trying to help by giving a firm warning.
Some practical points I will mention as I know you will get some wheels (we've all been there):
-...
All mild steel exhausts rust eventually. How long they last depends on the way the car is used. Very short journeys won't burn off moisture.
As I said, many 182s still have the original exhaust. Those that don't have often changed the exhaust for more noise.
My Trophy's is like new almost 7...
Ultimately, leave it as it is.
If you must, a straight replacement panel which stays within the original airbox (say, K&N) can give a slight improvement in noise and throttle response and is far cheaper.
Needs to be cleaned now and then though.
