Is anyone saving up for the new spec Clio sport due out in about 12 months or so? I may be tempted if it looks hard enough but l bet the value of my 172 Cup would plummet
Lets start a Wave at all RS drivers campaign.
Ermmm....actually l have to say that last saturday l saw a silver 172 Sport in Kirkhams garage driven by a women and l never let on...even though l was stood next to her at the till:oops: .Stll.....lll start today and see how many l get.
Shouldnt...
Prob you, matey.Ive seen a gold 182 drive past my house a few times in Hollins, near the Queen Anne pub,and turn left at the mini roundabout on Parr Lane.
I know...but this is from a Renault expert(!).Hes saying that the performance loss is almost nothing (0.1 secs 0-60).
My question is has anyone timed runs with & without 98ron fuel to see if this is true?
Ive just read this on the Renaultsport site.If its true then it would be much cheaper to run on normal unleaded....and easier to find! I have to say that l notice a difference between Optimax & normal 95/97ron fuel.......

Some testing includes the weight of a driver.Again in the back of Evo theres figures for most cars.Willy is defo lighter than a cup due to build regs etc.
Rather than go into the ins and outs of gearing/pwr/engine design/torque etc l think that we should trust what the test results were.A 172...
Evo magazine has well respected journalist who have tested everything from a Punto Sporting to a Zonda over two decades. They always pit a mint older car against the newer type(ie mint Lotus carlton v RS4 V Jag S type / 205gti V CTR etc etc).I would say that this mag is the best out there if you...
Wait a minute! I said that l have owned 3 205s which are close to a Williams and l own a Cup! So l know what lm talking about.I havent raced them on a track so have gone off articles and owners from this site & the 205gti forum.
Is there anything wrong with that?
Standard V standard......the Cup wins on sprints and around tracks according to every article lve read. After modding who knows? A cup with 182 stripes V a Williams with a 300 bhp engine under the bonnet and race spec suspension.....the Williams wins!
I would never dis the Williams though....l...
Never drove a Williams Clio but used to own a pug 1.9gti.My Cup 172 is a better car...no question. But it doesnt have that feel that the pug had.
Hard to explain unless youve driven both.
Had this on my cup the first month l got it.The light came on and after that l did about 20 miles max.I was doing 80 in the outside lane of the m60 and as l came off at whitefield it cut out.
Lucky boy !!!:o
Didnt have the suspension changed on mine.I would still say that the grip in the Cup is miles more than a 205 gti.The 205 was great in the dry but when wet, even with F1 Eagles fitted, you had to behave.
I had a Skip Brown 205 gtiS in red until l bought a 172 Cup last march.
205 + classic looks,fantastic feel whilst driving,great performance(0-60 about 7.2 secs)
205 - Always needed a repair,ran rough for the first minute or so,everything rattled,older car (1991),insurance (group 14+ meant...
Anyone else had rattles from the doors? And when in ,say, 2nd gear going on & off throttle theres a slight clicking noise from the front offside.Maybe a loose engine mount bolt?
My Cup is 4k old.
