Exchange rocks, that's why.
Lots of nice improvements in 2007 - lots of stuff which really helps administering it..
Just need them to get rid of the massive mailbox .edb file then it'll be perfect.. ;)
All new Mac's have an Airport (That's just what Apple call their wireless stuff) card installed.. so it'll connect no problems. The only exception is the Mac Pro, but you can spec it no problems.
You need to setup an Exchange infrastructure.. which I guess you ain't going to do :p
Or, you can get hosted Exchange mailboxes for a monthly fee - usually around £10-£15 per mailbox for a decent service.. obviously getting higher for larger mailboxes etc.
Exchange does Email, calendar and contacts.
MobileMe will have those and iDisk, Gallery, etc.. so everything in one place.
In terms of mail usage, calendar and contacts, there is no difference.
MobileMe also integrates better with OSX at the moment than Exchange.. (Altho Snow Leopard will...
Nope, had a couple of problems with billing (wrong tarrif to start with, then another tarrif change). All resolved within about 2 minutes of speaking to them (including a credit - I went well over my inclusive minutes, but because they knew I'd asked to be put on the higher tarrif, they...
I've never, ever, not even once, had a problem with O2 Customer Service.
Infact, out of every customer service place I've ever rung, they're probably the most helpful and clued up.
Ok, the Push Notification Service looks awesome.
It keeps a connection open to the phone, but just acts as a third party in the connection between the phone and the IM server.... sooooooo.... any client (MSN, Jabber, etc) should be able to benefit from it..
Now that's seriously cool.
That's...
It'll be beyond awesome then.. full push IM with Jabber and MSN integration would be awesome. I guess it'll just be Jabber based (open, so easy to do) but with MSN transports.
iPhone 4G will have no SMS.. obsolete protocols FTW! ;)
We need a decent Mac forum... Apple > * :p
There's an AIM application.. and also a web based iPhone-optomised Google Talk client.
The main reason chat apps suck is that they don't do background running.. so you have to have it showing at all times. If they integrated MSN/Jabber/etc all properly, and it had a proper widget like the mail...
What's the smallest mobile phone at the moment?
Used to have: http://www.motorola.com/rtte/PCS/MEdocs/Image3.gif (years and years ago now though) and it was really small.. perfect!
I've got a Razr2 V8 at the moment, which is awesome.. really like it.. may change it though..
The Samsung...
Haha.
When you ring O2 on a pay monthly contract, they have a "Press 1 for iPhone" and you go straight to an advisor.. haha. High demand ftw! No messing around.
The 3G USB sticks is a terrible suggestion for a permanent internet connection at home - especially if you can get another service.
I'd even chose Virgin Broadband over a 3G stick.. seriously :p
That's because Orange have to fight for their custom..
O2 don't have to, so they don't care.. ;)
I'm not on the best deal (Just a standard store tarrif), but the whole customer service, coverage etc is just awesome on O2. O2 don't tend to barter as much as others.
