very very rarely fail to the extent of causing engine damage unless the wrong cam seal is put in and the oil spills over the timing belt. maybe the new engine was not timed up correctly and damage was caused by that
i don't know if its classed as cannock but any way they were both near that renault garage on the island.

are you attempting this yourself? as for certain way what exactly do you mean? just bolt it on it can only go on one way and torque it up correctly, and if you are changing the cam seals behind make sure you have the correct one fitted and that you have removed the old one
change the gearbox for a cable driven speedo one from a 172 i did this on my old valver as the circlips in the standard jb3/early jc5's were made of chocolate.also fit the longer clutch fork from any mk2 and the bracket on the gearbox bell housing as this will make the clutch pedal considerably...
davo172 has just done this he changed front and rear shocks new top mounts and a set of sportlines he has told me its the best thing he has done and wished he did it a few years back
i had a few hours experience with these(apex), i say a few hours because they were taken off they were that bad the ride is real harsh. I replaced them with sportlines.
