if its all cable tied up thats your problem mate! only takes a few mm play each way and you will have idleing problems.

if iirc this is what your engine looks like?? if so where the throttle cable is spring clipped to the rocker cover to the left of the filler cap pull the little spring out and pull the plastic bit towards the radiator 1 notch at a time (put the clip back in every notch you do) keep starting or...

when you say idle is it to high or does it cut out?

i done the exact thing on my old valver worked a treat, i also disconnected the switch because i forgot and tried to open it lol not a nice noise silicone does the job though

pop the rear seat up and take the fuel pump out and syphon it that way. works on mk1 clios don't know about 172/182s

just replace the aux kit saves faffing about, for the sake of i think about £230 supplied and fitted i would get it done pronto,or if it goes and takes the timing belt out its going to cost you around £1200 for a rebuild.

the reason i have not seen them on an mk3 because no one will put them on because they will look crap

how did changing the oil filter sort out the leak from the rocker cover?:S leaving it sat for a year has not done it much good if it was my car i would disconnect and clean every electrical connetion under the bonnet on top of a service, plugs ,leads etc etc. then go from there
