@White16valver yeah died matey after previous owner didn't pay hosting. Site was deleted and lost about last 6 years from previous backup before host change. As such basically write off and we all moved to Facebook group instead. Not the same though, forums work better imo by miles
Painted the shields with thier mods and little riveted on brackets and then mocked up both sides. New studs showed up too.
So I know I've got all the parts refurbished and everything there now so jobs a good un.
Blowtorch at the ready for the weekend

Brackets made up and riveted on...
you'll need to cut the caliper mounting bracket off and then either bash the stub out the beam or yeah chop it off flush with an angle grinder. that's my backup plan too if it all goes wrong. however you'll still need to get the torx bolts out to retap and reuse the bolt holes to mount the 172...

always good to see more mk1 enthusiast about
I don't know much about that specific car, think it was bought and lightly restored for a TV show/advert or something similar
I myself am pretty well versed in mk1 clios, having had around 10 in total 16v/Williams' over the years. Currently still have 2 in the stable but both are far from stock...
Welcome,
Fair few of us kicking about still, but most are dead or not for sale as the rarity now means most owners are keeping hold of them. Pop over to the facebook pages, just search 'Clio 1.8 16v Owners' or similar to find us all!
There is however a naples on ebay currently with a Williams...
More progess today. After attempting to fit the disc shields soon found out they're incompatible with the 172 hubs. Never really thought about it before but the 1*2's don't have them.
Appears maybe ones from a Megane mk1 F7R may fit but suspected hens teeth.
As such cracked out the dremel and...
Yeah definitely, different strokes for different folks I guess. Regularly commute 130 miles to Welwyn Garden from Derbyshire in mine, no issues. Spent a lot of time and effort though sorting the right mods to make it relatively quiet, refined and comfortable for daily use.
It's back on them currently matey you'll be pleased to hear  the proper silver ones too, not the bright yellow.... Although they're going on I think once this jobs done for a giggle
I'm about to turn 37, tried a comfy boosty saab for a more age appropriate approach to a daily more befitting my vintage..... Hated it, f**k comfort, straight back into the 182
Around 4 years ago I acquired some 172 stub axles and camber shims, having never got around to fitting them decided since the car want be used for a while I'd tackle this mod.
In all honesty been putting it off as removing the old caliper brackets and stubs (which are pressed into the rear...
So started the sprimg tinkering on the old girl recently.
Taking my time as frankly I'm not going to get to use the heap for the foreseeable!
First upgrade was to replace the odyssey gel battery with a ps-06 lithium battery, this thing is obscene, 900g and cranks the engine perfect. Isn't...
Few more changes, wound the coilovers down another 10mm up front to get her sitting correctly.
Then refitted the minidisc 💽 head unit, with the connects2 so now the column control works which is nice.
Fitted some 182 rear speakers as they were in shed and the original 172 ones were knackered...
@Dug1992
This is my daily 182, 212k on her now, all original running gear, engine, gearbox, driveshafts etc etc.
Everything still works pretty much, so cruise, traction, abs, climate control all fine. Auto xenon headlights. All the daily creature comforts you need.
Cheap to run and great...
Mk2 late model make great commute cars where I live, quiet a roads and b road options for spirited detours. Hence I've run mine for 7 years now every day.
Mk3 I have no real experience of but to me it's just a more expensive way of achieving same thing.
