The night before the night before...............
So here it goes, race day is less than 48 hours away! Are we ready? Sort of...
I picked up the car yesterday and have spent today trying to get it ready. As you can see above the right hand side of the car isn't looking to good at the moment...
This has GAZ GHA, C5EAD has GAZ gold. Both run 600 springs at the front but this has 600 at the rear and C5EAD has 400s
We have a spare new set of 400 rear springs so might try that at some point.
Second test / final test day, next time out we're racing!!
We spent the day at Brands yesterday. Weather was great which is good if we have a dry day at the first race. First off the car is straight again but is looking crap as its missing the side skirt, trim and graphics. Its 12 days until...
The clios down with body shop having the repairs carried out. Some good has come out of the bump (pint half full not half empty!) they have come on board as a sponsor for the season. In exchange for some space for branding on the car they are going to carry out the repairs and only charge us...
Cheers, there’s room for one of your stickers for a good price on brakes when we need some ?? It has orange pads in atm which I’ve never heard of before!
Door cards are great and so easy to fit! The new door and side skirt was purchased for £60. We are now officially booked onto the first race in less than a month. It will be ready!
Exactly, trying to be positive! The car works we just need to dial it in. Think i’ve been spoilt with C5EAD being such a good car but that gives us a good reference!
Onwards and upwards!
A testing day testing............
Monday we went to Donnington for our first outing in our car. We went up the night before and ventured in Monday. Weather was forecast dry, happy days
So we had a few issues to deal with -
Getting the wheels to fit on with huncentric spacers. Believe it or...
Yeah disappointing about the mini as this Clio isn’t my car! Lesson learnt, always have a GoPro in the car to help prove your innocents!
400 mile round trip to pick up the new parts last night. Aiming for the first round at Donnington ?
Nice to see you and the car, it’s trully stunning up close. Was a very testing day of testing for us, think this is the only time we’ll be in front of you this year......... ?
We haven’t seen any of the official photos of our car from Monday. Mind you it wasn’t looking it’s best at the time...
Russ (the driver/owner) called MSV in the week and said that we were having our liverey fitted at the weekend so they sent it to us. Our friends also had theirs sent to them this week as well. I don’t know if this was by chance or not?!
Looking dry for tomorrow now ?
Today I met my race car for the first time ?
With the sticker man booked in we gave it a quick wash.
Then on with the stickers. Time beat us so the lightings poor but you should get the idea......
Can’t believe how many compulsory stickers there are! We still need to add our number but...
Yeah i’ve seen your car, different league ? We’re not even near ready to race and just want to say hello to people and find out what we still need to do. Still need to buy my race PPE!
We’ve even had to refit the dash to fit regs! It’s going to be an adventure. There’s two Clio 182s between...
We haven’t ruled out anything. I do follow all the other series on their relative pages/websites. We’re just dipping our toes in ATM
You’ll be please to know the Clio has a new bonnet and grill since it rear ended the 106 on its last outing ? It also has a new engine ?
Hi All
I’m lucky enough to be entered in the MSV Trackday Trophy. As with all of us it’s a dream to race but for whatever reason I kept putting it off. However I kept saying I’d race a car before i’m 40, i’m 40 in October so time to chop chop!
Some of you might be aware that I have built this...
Had the 'if Carlsberg did trackdays..........' trackday at Bedford on Friday. Weather was perfect and the Clio was perfect!
Remembering the car hasn't even been off of the trailer since October I did the sigting laps and then checked over the car. All was well so off we went on the 888r's...
Yes it was fun ? But that was on the 888r’s after about 10 mins running
I haven’t timed anything but this is a back to back comparison of 888r vs slicks
First video is 888r with the spin..
Second video is on the slicks (don’t know why I let the Z4 past ?)
To bring this up to date.....
I did a trackday at Bedford yesterday. With the weather looking perfect I suddenly realised this would be perfect for slicks! And by chance a set of Avon’s came up for £100 the day before. Quickly went to pick them up and had them put on a brand new set of TD1.2s...
Impulse buy! With tomorrows impending trackday the weather is looking perfect, dry and not to hot! What pops up on facebook........ some slicks! With the spare brand new TD1.2s in the loft I set off to Bristol, picked them up and had them fitted locally!
Predicting some kind of mechanical...
Not a good sight and concerning about the potential consequences! I had the PMS conversion but swapped to a 280 set up last year. TBH I don’t know who made them but they look in good order ATM. Maybe they were from this batch?!
Alloy cleaning fluids (wonder wheels etc) must make a difference on...
C5EAD - dragged it out of the garage for the first time this year. Charged the battery and it fired up with a second! Not bad as it last run in October. The weathers looking good and there’s no puddles of liquids under the car so i’ve booked Bedford for a week today (22nd Feb). Looking forward...
Not so much of a car update but I passed my ARDS test today! The dream of racing a car before i’m 40 one step closer. I enjoyed the process today. The MSV staff at Brandshatch are great. The track was challenging as it was -2.5degC when I arrived. Very slippery!
Blue clio update - looks like...
