I forgot to say it went in for it's MOT as my brother in law gets a free one through work and passed...
...once £441 worth of work had been done. The alignment needed doing, the bonnet cable snapped as the latch was seized, the o/s/f caliper was seized, new front pads were needed as a result...
Put the new grille on today, it's from an i-CDTi sport and is essentially the same as the Type S grille. I had to get one from a diesel though as there are a few differences involving the cooling system etc than mean bumpers & grille are slightly different.
The plan long term is to save a bit...
I saw a Skunk2 Racing gear knob on eBay for cheap so I got it and whilst I was fitting it I sprayed the gear stick black as you could see the bare slightly rusty metal.
h Project Thunder, that ignited my love of the Lotus Carlton (Thunder was a 3000GSi but the body kit is a Lotus rep). It's a shame the lad that won it couldn't handle the power and stuffed it into a shop front about a week after getting the keys. They ended up doing a feature on it getting...
Many thanks, I think a small ducktail spoiler would finish the back off nicely like this.
Then the wheels really need a refurb, MOT in a couple of months though so I'm concentrating on that for now.

The bodykits...
Aluminium is highly flammable, that's what brought the Hindenburg down. It was lined with aluminium and a static charge ignited it which in turn ignited the hydrogen, nasty stuff if near flames.
I don't know why there is so much hate, I think they are quite cool little cars for the money and from what I've read they are not too bad to drive either.
I'm just going on the fact that if you Google 'Bora estate' you get loads of standard looking cars with European plates, like the pic I posted on German plates.
Probably right about the Golf being a stronger seller over here as they tend to like small saloons in Europe so the Jetta...
I think the estate had a Bora front end in Europe and we got the Golf for some reason? I think the squarer front end works better with the estate shape.
I decide to remove the Plastidip from the 'H' badge in the grille, I guess I didn't put on enough coats as was a bit of a bugger getting it off.
I think it looks good, a bit more oem than with the black badge.
